On a cloudy day at Halifax West End golf club our first Junior Team Championship squad attempted to qualify through the first round to then play up at Seaton Carew.

The competition is a 6 man team, Nett competition with 5 scores counting, 1 from the top 3 lowest gross players is counted gross as well.

Our first pair out, Cooper and George played some great golf after a poor start. They finished with Nett scores of 72 and 76 respectively.

Our second pair out, Spencer and Alfie Slater starred, with Alfie shooting our best gross score of the day with an excellent 74. Spencer played out of his skin to shoot an impressive 67 Nett, 2 under his handicap! Brilliant effort lads.

Our final pair out, Fin Marshall and Ollie Rohtlaan were the perfect anchor for the team. Fin fought hard playing some good golf, but was eclipsed on the day by his partner Ollie shooting a brilliant 72 Nett.

This gave us a team total of 361, enough to secure us the win by 5 shots over a star studded Thirsk & North Allerton team boasting 4 Yorkshire players and far superior handicaps.

Really well played lads, bring on Seaton Carew!!

So day 2 of our junior Ryder Cup ended with a win for the Adults (Europe) over the 2 days. The sun did finally come out though and all our players had their traditional photo call before the annual dinner.

We are incredibly proud of our junior program and with new youngsters coming through we saw our previous mini Ryder Cup captain and winner Ollie, hand his cap over to the new winning captain Josh. Ollie now plays in the 2 day senior event, but it’s so good to see the new blood coming through.

Some of the pictures below show the huge support we have for our junior players, from the adults who play alongside them, and also all the parents. A great 2 days!!!!!

Day 1 of our Ryder Cup…..after a little controversy….ended up Europe (Adults) 4 and USA (Juniors) 3.

This event is so well supported by Juniors, parents and also the adult club members who take part. Yesterday it was so good to see parents and all players on the 18th wiring to support the teams coming in.

Today……it’s singles day, and also our junior junior Ryder Cup tournament which takes place over 9 holes and for 1 day only. Play well all!!!

Today is day 1 of our annual Ryder Cup tournament for our juniors. This is one of our biggest junior events of the year. The adults (Europe) take on the juniors (USA) over 2 days of Ryder Cup format play. Today is Greensomes and the half way house is open!!

On the 30th of August we will be holding our Junior Open competition with lots of prizes. This will be open to all juniors under 18 and will be an 18 hole competition. Alongside this there will also be a Junior Development competition over 9 holes.

We have also teamed up with our leisure club with a Dip & Dine offer so that you can relax while your junior golfers compete on the course!!
