The Redsâ introduction to Group 1 couldnât have come in a tougher match. Facing the extremely talented Hessle Rangers side (if you're going to do something why not start against one of the best eh?) , the boys matched them for large stretches, showing courage, composure, and the Redsâ trademark spirit. In the end, Hessleâs experience made the difference, but there were standout performances all across the pitch, moments of creativity, commitment, and determination that will set the tone for the season ahead.
And letâs not forget the early challenge off the pitch, this was Reds vs Hessle vs the alarm clock, with an 8:30 kick-off! Despite the early start, the Reds gave it everything from the first whistle to the last.
A match like this is exactly what Group 1 is about: testing limits, learning fast, and showing that the Reds belong at this level.
