Another awesome day of hockey!! With the team needing 3 straight wins and other result6s to go our way for the title, the pressure was on.......
The first match of the day saw our team up against ECU Boys. This was never going to be easy, and ECU were also title contenders and both teams wanting it.
Unfortunately, ECU boys proved to be just too much. Maybe some of our player were still recovering from friday night, but on the balance of play, despite some cracking goals from Paul Hunt, George Noble and Mikey Whiting, the travelsights/ mediatek sponsored team just could close the gap.

Despite this, the team never dropped their heads, and next played the ECU girls, realising 2nd spot was still in contention. We ran off into an early lead, but the girls came strong towards the end making the finish very close. A close win to Cambridge was the result......

Our final match against Letchworth RHC proved to be an epic battle, the lead changing hands and a close match throuout. A real crowd pleaser this one. At the end, the match finished level, which on the balance, was the right result. What a game to finish our season with!!

With thanks going to everyone who helped make this event possible and congratulations to ECU Boys for winning the title.

Big thanks to our sponsors who helped make this all possible..

MATCH REPORT
Today was a tough day for us all. Some great team plays, some shambles and some amazing goals. For our first game against ECU boys, we really struggled to gel together for the first half. Playing such a team with a great chemistry was difficult to say the least for our first game of the day, this being reflected in the score. Some great goals from both teams and some great defending too. ECU are a very tough team, they have great chemistry and bounce off one another, however, we were still able to keep them out for the most part. Unfortunately for us, a team like that will always find holes in a defence.
For the game against ECU girls, we felt more ready. The game came with some great team plays, with us being able to find the back of the net despite some great defending from the girls. This was an enjoyable game with both teams playing to their best abilities and this really showed in the end result. Unfortunately for us, towards the end we did again struggle to hold it together, however, we managed to break them apart or stop them, giving us the win.
As for the final game against Letchworth, this was a really tough match. Both teams were tired, aggressive and desperately trying their hardest to break down each others defence and find the back of the opponents net. This wasn’t just a game, this was a battle. Letchworth had some great players and some amazing moves, however we were able to keep the game level and balance the playing field. With a draw result at the end, both teams should take a bow, not only was this game loved by the players but the spectators too. As a last line of defence, both our goal keepers played outstandingly and I couldn’t be prouder of them and the team. With that being said, as always, there are many rooms for improvements. With every game, tournament and season we play, comes realisation. Yes, the team played incredible for the most part but that’s not to say there isn’t any room for improvement. Today was tough, but overall, with a win, loss and a draw, the team really put their heart and soul into every match and we look forward to the next season Big up the Cambs

MATCH REPORT

Last nights game was something we have never experienced before. Despite having a good idea of what the outcome would’ve been, we still fought from the start to finish and left with our heads held high. We knew it would be a very tough, one sided game but the goal was to just play as best we could and take home the experience and use this experience as a learning curve.

They were strong, fast, physical and extremely educated with their manoeuvres, which is very unsurprising considering they are the reigning champions of 9 years running and looking to be 10.

This was, and will remain, a great experience of what we could achieve and become some day. Many lessons were learnt from this game and many things were apparent to us after the game on ways we could improve.

In terms of the team itself, I feel as if we really held our own out there. Yes the score was high, however, so many shots were blocked, passes intercepted and manoeuvres broken down. This being said, the score could’ve been much higher. Cambridge did very well to walk out with their heads held high, and I am and always will be proud to be Cambridge.

Big shout out too to our goal keeper, Ryan. He played exceptionally well and has some insane potential to be one of the best keepers there is. 2 out of 2 penalties saved with some incredible agility during the game. Hat off to you mate, incredible mate.

What a night!! King's Lynn Rink Hockey Club
Hosted the National KO cup draw for KL vs CCRHC.

Now, KL are serial Prem League champs with 9 titles in succession and well in position for #10, so this was never going to be an easy game. Credit to Lynn who took this match seriously, and overall, gave a demonstration in how to dominate a game of hockey.

Cambridge worked really hard for each other and tried their absolute best but the gap between the top flite team and 3rd tier team proved all to evident. The lads did however have some of it their own way, managing to put 4 past the champs, more than some prem teams have managed.

The scoreline at the end was 24-4, which in no way reflects the effort Cambs put in to this match, none more so than keeper Ryan who made countless saves, inc 2 penalty saves......
Now the lads go again tomorrow for their final league tournament where mathematically it is still possible to win the league div2.
Up the Cambs!!

Thanks to King's Lynn Rink Hockey Club

AFTER MATCH REPORT

After a tough game against Kings Lynn, the only thing I can say is how proud of Cambridge I am. We fought our absolute hardest against a great team, played an incredible match but unfortunately Lynn just came out to be the better team today. We have definitely seen some of our training skills coming into play with things like screens and the triangle play upfront during a power play and it’s great to see.

As for the game overall, it was tough. We knew we had to win and wanted to win but unfortunately Lynn are a great team and they managed to just about keep us out of their goal. A couple of great goals from Cambridge today though, with George on a through ball into the box for myself to tip it just over the goal keepers stick and with Lucas’s finish from a cross in from George again. This play especially has been drilled into the players in training and it’s amazing to see it out into play and actually work. Unfortunately, a few fouls were committed against us and not called, however, a ref can only call what they see but it was just unfortunate they didn’t quite catch it. These things happen but it’s how we react after that counts.

Overall, Cambridge did incredibly well against a really tough team and it’s amazing to see the improvements we have made as a team.

Big up the Cambs 🟠⚫️💪

The team had a visit to the Neal Wade Academy yesterday for the ECRHA Knockout Cup. We drew King's Lynn and the match was a very physical affair with no quarter given. The teams were well matched with both having a big hitter, and the metalwork being tested at range by both. King's Lynn emerged as winners by one goal, ending 3-2. Congratulations to King's Lynn and thanks for a really tight match.
CCRHC would like to thank the organisers and their sponsors.

Captains Corner…..

After a long travel for most of us, we arrived ready to go, getting there early to check out the opponents we were up against. The rink was a lot smaller than we are used to playing on so we quickly realised adaption was needed for these games. The first game against Colchester came with the result we were looking for, after a stiff start for us, we managed to apply the pressure we needed to find the back of that net. After taking the lead relatively early on, we kept applying the pressure to Colchester to keep them behind, closing down shots, blocking the cross ins and shutting down runs. Colchester are used to this rink and it really showed, they knew their way around and the best ways to break our defence but we held together as a team and kept them out to finish with a great result. The game against ECU boys was tough, we had a 20 minute break between Colchester and ECU and it really reflected on our game play against them. As a captain I am not a perfect player, nor am I afraid to say I didn’t play to my best. No player is perfect, and we were all gassed out, however, against ECU we gave it everything we had left. Some great goals were scored by both teams but unfortunately we just couldn’t make the finishing touch’s after we had broken through their defences. Both teams played great but unfortunately for us they managed to squeeze more goals through. Admittedly, I did allow one or two silly goals to get through but like I said, no player is perfect. Overall, we had a great day with a fair result, we look forward too the next tournament to prove what we’re really made of. I take my hat off too the team, everyone played as best as we could despite the journey and limited break time. Big up the Cambs 👍
