A lot of schools are closing early, or closing entirely over the next couple of days, and you and / or your children may be looking to cool off in your local lake or river

⚠️ Just remember the water safety code: if you get into trouble, stay calm, float on your back and call for help.

Cold water shock can happen to anyone, even on a warm day. Your instinct might be to panic, but the best thing you can do is float.

🛟 Tilt your head back and keep your airway clear
🫁 Relax and focus on your breathing
🌊 Spread your arms and legs to stay balanced
🤲 Gently move your hands if needed
📞 Once calm, signal for help or swim to safety

If someone else is in trouble, don’t go in. Throw them something that floats.

It’s and as Corsham ASC is an entirely volunteer-run club we literally wouldn’t exist without all our amazing volunteers. Even our Head Coach is a volunteer! A big thank you to all our coaches, teachers, parent helpers, young volunteers, committee and officials.

And here are some of those today officiating, coaching and team managing at Round 2 of the Wiltshire League at Calne.

We want everyone to enjoy going for a swim, but with more and more people heading to the water and tragic drowning incidents once again highlighting the potential risks, below is some key water safety advice to help keep safe around the water:

Know the Water Safety Code

🛑Stop and think; always swim in a safe place
🏊Swim in supervised, lifeguarded areas
🌊Enter the water slowly and carefully

Stay together 🤝
Stay within reach of others, and keep children in arms reach at all times

Float 🛟
If you fall in or become tired, float on your back, breathe, relax and call for help

🚨If you see someone in an emergency:

📞 Call 999 (If you're at the coast, ask for the Coastguard, if you’re inland ask for Fire and Rescue)
🗣 Tell the person in the water to float on their back, breathe, relax
🟡 Throw them something that floats

☀️ Summer starts with water safety ☀️

As families look ahead to the summer holidays, our new campaign is reminding parents not to leave water safety until the last minute. The time to start swimming lessons is now. 💧

Fronted by international swimmer and broadcaster Michael Gunning, the campaign highlights the difference between a child who can just splash and one who is truly water safe, able to stay calm, float and cope in open water. Those skills take time to build. ⭐

Swimming lessons started now help families enjoy the summer later! 💦
