If there's one thing I bloody love seeing people change, it's their body - and the confidence that comes along with it. 🫵🏻

Take Donna…

When she walked through the doors to the gym the first day, she was petrified. 😳

Not because I’m that mean, but because she was so nervous and uncertain about what was waiting for her when she took that first step.

What would people think of her being in the gym?

What if she felt silly getting things wrong?

What if she didn’t have the confidence to ask for help and just stuck to her treadmill in the clutches of comfort? ☹️

But she knew there was a reason she’d asked for the help - because this wasn’t just about the gym for Donna.

This was about regaining the confidence of putting herself first, and doing something for her that would pay off in how she looked and how she felt.

No longer just seen as ‘Donna the mum’ but as someone who was strong enough to keep up with the kids and to prove to herself that she can do things she didn’t ever think was possible. 🙌🏻

That whilst comfort was good, she felt stuck and her routine and didn’t know how to get out. That the comfort was slowly crumbling her motivation away, instead of igniting it.

Her progress was stalling and she was finding herself asking ‘Will my body ever change in the way I want it to?’ 🤔

Fast forward to now, where Donna is…

Training multiple times a week, going into the gym on her own and feeling so confident because she knows exactly what to do to get results whilst still handling the busy mum life.

That she now loves her training sessions, not loathes them. 🎉

Shes proud of seeing the her arms and legs change shape, wearing clothes away on holiday she would have never worn.

Even waving the kids away when she drops them off to school without feeling self conscious about her ‘ripply arms’ as she calls them! 💪🏻

All because she took that first step and made a commitment to herself in asking for help.

Despite what the world of social media might tell you - the results the superstars I coach should be most proud of go way, way beyond your before and afters. (Though I think its safe to say Nicola did bloody awesome here!) 💪🏼

Mostly because they are incredible real people who have mega busy home life’s and don’t always want to sit and chew through broccoli and cardboard chicken meal after meal. 💤
-
Like Nicola – supermum of three who managed to get into great shape and highlights the very definition of action taking and chipping away at things slowly when the times right to make serious results. 🎉
-
Nicola trained with me through lockdown and beyond, with limited equipment and sometimes arctic climates (she even trained in the snow over the local open field after we had the police called on us!!) 🤣
-
Though the police being called is a story for another time!
-
For Nicola, things had gotten so busy with life when she first came to me she was feeling drained and had decided now was a good time to take action, but she just wasn’t sure where to go next.
-
And this is a very important part too… Nicola has had to work around a very tricky health situation and so we had to know when it was time to progress, and when it was time to slow things down a touch. ⚖️
-
So, we worked together to create routines that she could involve the kids with, whether that was making a dish they all loved, to taking them on walks in the woods, to even involving them in the workouts! (Who knew little ones were so good as weights for glute bridges?)
-
She also knew the importance of those small little steps and how important they’d be – from taking the kids on a small walk, to then walking all the way down and around the beach and back on holiday! (and bringing me back quite possibly the best Belgian bun in existence) 😋
-
The routine, and those small steps even when it got tough helped to find something that Nicola could hone in on and see herself doing long term, for herself and to inspire her little ones.

She was amazed at how fitter, stronger and confident she felt in her clothes and herself!

Fancy feeling a bit like a superhero without having to don a cape and a fancy mask (you can if you want, no judging here)🦸🏼

Well, here’s my three step process for powerful change that’ll have those muscles toned, fat dissolved and a determined grin on your face.

(come on, all the superheroes have it)

1) Ask yourself where you are at right now with your current fitness and what your diet looks like.🤔
-
And be honest, even if it means it’s a little frustrating (because it’s the last time you’ll be here, promise.)
-
Because without knowing where you truly are, you’ll have nothing to plot truly how you want to look and feel.
-
2) Ask yourself what you truly want to look and feel like. I want this picture to be as clear as you can make it in your mind.
-
Whats different about your life in that picture? What do you feel like in your body, when you wake up, when your at work or with loved ones? 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
-
3) Pick out 1-3 things (that’s it) that you could see yourself being able to do for a minimum of 3-4 weeks, daily, that might start to move you closer to that picture.

No, I don’t mean throw out all the carbs you’ve got in the cupboard.
-
Yes, I do mean actually include a piece or two of fruit every now and then, or actually go out for a walk for 20 minutes instead of fighting yourself because its too cold, too wet, you’ve got one pink sock and one grey sock on and they might see you. 🌧️

(Odd socks are cool, chill.)

That’s it. One month, a few changes.

Because understanding that you’ve just laid the very first glorious stone towards uncovering that superhero in you, without having to change your entire life, is what its all about. 👍🏼
