WHAT A NIGHT FOR MARVELS! 🏐

Tonight, Marvels Squad and Marvels Crew took on Lanivet Shoots and Lanivet Social Team and what an evening!

🏐 Squad vs Lanivet Shoots

A brilliant game from start to finish! The girls worked so well together, whatever combination they were put in. Fantastic communication, some awesome passages of play, great tips and intercepts, and lots of patience and resetting to find that careful ball into our shooters.

And the best bit… a win to be incredibly proud of! 👏🧡

These girls have worked so hard over the three years Marvels has been running. We’ve welcomed new players, watched them grow and seen everyone dig deep to earn their place. I honestly couldn’t be prouder of every single one of them!

🏐 Crew vs Lanivet Social Team

A tense, neck-and-neck game for much of the evening! We welcomed two new players, Ella and Sofi, to Crew, and they were fantastic. Ella picked up some brilliant intercepts, and it was amazing hearing the girls cheering, encouraging and celebrating each other throughout the game. 🧡

The girls came together, dug deep and secured a well-deserved win! 🙌

Tonight our girls travelled to Callywith College for Trials Night #1 🏐✨

Before we got stuck into the netball, we had the absolute pleasure of taking a big team photo with the Cornwall Hospice cheque from our charity Netball Festival, and what a moment it was!

£3,500 RAISED! 🎉🙌

We still can’t quite believe what an incredible amount we raised. A huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to every single person who played a part in making the day such a success, all of our amazing sponsors, the Marvels, everyone who came along to support, played in a match, entered a team, bought a cake, grabbed a coffee, donated, cheered from the sidelines or simply helped out behind the scenes.

Every single person played their part, and we are incredibly grateful. ❤️

Then it was time for Trials Night #1, and the girls absolutely dug deep! There was plenty of netball, lots of rotation and some brilliant opportunities for everyone to trial in the positions they’re hoping to play.

With potentially three, maybe even four, teams going forward, there’s a LOT to think about when it comes to finding the right combinations, positions and team balance. It’s certainly not an easy job trying to work out who slots in where, while also making sure our players are happy and getting the very best out of their Marvels experience. 🏐

At the end of the evening, I was able to give some individual feedback to some of the girls to take into next week’s trial. I’m a big believer in being honest and saying things as they are, but always with kindness and the intention of helping players improve. The feedback was taken brilliantly, and hopefully the girls can use it to focus on the little things that will help them step up again next week.

Personally, I was chuffed to bits with everyone tonight. The effort, attitude and commitment were fantastic. 👏🏼

A massive thank you to Ellie and Freya for helping keep everything running smoothly, and thank you to all the girls for your patience, understanding and hard work this evening.

What a fantastic afternoon of netball to round off day one of our charity netball festival! 🏐🧡

Part two of Saturday saw 8 social teams battle it out for the top spot in a brilliant afternoon of competitive, friendly netball. Teams were split into Pool A and Pool B, with everyone playing each other before the top two from each pool progressed to the semi-finals, and then onto an exciting final.

The standard of netball throughout the afternoon was outstanding, with plenty of close games, great teamwork and even better sportsmanship.

A special welcome goes to Biscovey Football Club, who swapped the football pitch for the netball court and absolutely smashed it! It was fantastic to see you giving our sport a go, and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed having you. We were also delighted to welcome a team from Plymouth—it’s always great to play against new faces and make new connections through netball.

A huge thank you to our amazing umpires , Sarah, charlotte and Emma, who kept the games flowing throughout the afternoon, and to our fantastic scorers, whose hard work behind the scenes ensured everything ran so smoothly.

Unfortunately, not everyone was able to stay for the presentation, so a few players are missing from the presentation photos. That’s something we’ll definitely look at for next year’s festival, perhaps by holding the presentation before the semi-finals so everyone can be part of the celebrations.

Congratulations to all the teams for making the afternoon such a success, and thank you for supporting our charity festival.

Walking Netball... what a way to start our festival! 🏐

Our Walking Netball category was once again an absolute highlight of the weekend. It was fantastic to see seven amazing teams come together to enjoy the sport they love in such a friendly, supportive and competitive atmosphere.

A huge thank you must go to our wonderful umpires , , and , who generously gave up their time to officiate throughout the tournament. Your patience, encouragement and professionalism helped keep every game safe, fair and enjoyable for everyone involved. We really couldn’t have done it without you!

For anyone unfamiliar with Walking Netball, it’s a fantastic way to continue playing the game you love. The rules are adapted to make the game more accessible—there’s no running or jumping, players have an extra second on the ball, and you’re allowed one additional step, provided it’s within the natural flow of your movement. It’s a brilliant way to keep active, enjoy netball and be part of an amazing community.

What a weekend... 💙🧡

Our 3rd Marvels Charity Netball Festival and our first ever two-day festival is officially over... and what a weekend it was!
From start to finish, the atmosphere was absolutely incredible. We welcomed teams from across Cornwall and even as far as Plymouth and Penzance, all coming together for one amazing cause.

I honestly don’t know where to begin.

There are so many people to thank, so many photos to share and so many special moments to relive. My camera roll is overflowing, and over the next few days I’ll be sharing plenty of photos, videos and thank you posts because so many people deserve recognition.

Before all of that though, I just want to say a huge thank you to my Marvels Netball family.

You gave up your entire weekend, worked tirelessly from the moment we arrived until the very last table was packed away, and supported this event every step of the way. Whether you were making teas and coffees, baking cakes, running stalls, umpiring, setting up, clearing away or simply stepping in wherever you were needed, I couldn’t have done it without you.

To every team that entered, every umpire who volunteered their time, every sponsor who supported us, every business that donated prizes, every volunteer, every spectator and everyone who bought a cake, entered the raffle, played the games or made a donation...Thank you.

Every single one of you helped make a difference.
So... the moment you’ve all been waiting for...

I honestly couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved together. It’s an incredible amount of money for such a wonderful local charity, and it shows just what can happen when a community comes together.

✨ Only ONE week to go! ✨

The countdown is officially on, and final preparations are well underway to make sure our Marvels Charity Netball Weekend runs as smoothly as possible! 🏐🧡

I’ve been busy sorting medals, finalising timetables, and sending out information packs. Our Walkers and Social Teams should already have theirs, and our Mixed and League Teams will receive their information packs this evening, so please keep an eye on your inboxes. 📧

The first photo is of our official Charity Weekend Match Ball, kindly sponsored by our amazing Marvel of the Year, . Every single year Deannah generously sponsors our tournament match ball, and believe it or not, after more than 50 netball matches over the weekend, it comes away looking very well loved! A huge thank you, Deannah, for your continued support, it really does mean so much. 🌟

As you scroll through, you’ll find the timetables for all of the different categories. If you have friends or family playing, we’d love for you to come along and cheer them on. We absolutely love a loud cheerleading squad! 📣

Even if you’re not playing, there’s plenty to enjoy. Pop along for an hour (or stay all day!) and watch some fantastic netball, let the children get creative with crafts, grab a coffee and a sweet treat, browse the tombola, and soak up the amazing community atmosphere.

Friday night done right! 🏐💙

Tonight, Marvels hosted some of the mixed teams taking part in our upcoming charity netball tournament. Everyone wanted to get a little practice in before the big day, and what a fantastic session it was!

We welcomed Viks team, The Gender Blenders, Georgi’s team, james No Giant & His Peaches, a Random Team, and Biscoff – the biscovey Girls Football Team, who’ll also be joining us in the Social League. 🙌

The hour absolutely flew by… so much so that we even ran out of time for our final match! 😅 Every team played brilliantly, there were some fantastic surprises along the way with a few potential future netball stars emerging, and the guys were absolutely awesome on court too.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along tonight. The standard of play was fantastic, the atmosphere was brilliant, and if tonight is anything to go by, the charity tournament is going to be a very close competition! We can’t wait for the big day. 💙🏐

Another fantastic evening of netball for our Marvels teams! 🏐

Squad were up first against the VCs after a slightly delayed start. It was a bit of a rocky first quarter as the girls settled into the game and adjusted to each other on court, but once they found their rhythm, they really stepped up. Their teamwork, determination and confidence grew throughout the match, allowing them to build a strong lead and come away with a well-deserved win. 👏

It was a physical, well-contested game at times, which meant there was plenty for us umpires to keep an eye on. Our priority is always to apply the rules consistently and, most importantly, ensure the game is played as safely and fairly as possible for everyone on court.

Next up were our Crew, taking on our lovely Rivals. This is always one of my favourite fixtures to watch, with both teams full of talented players who always give everything while keeping the game positive and enjoyable.

Crew were brilliant and found themselves five goals ahead at one stage, which was fantastic to see. Rivals battled back in the third and fourth quarters to take the win. Unlucky, Crew—you worked so hard, and I’m incredibly proud of every one of you.

A huge well done to Rivals on a great comeback and thank you to both teams for another brilliant game played in great spirit.

🧡 Marvels’ Marvellous Tuesday 🧡

What a brilliant evening of Pay & Play netball!

Four teams, one court and a full hour of fast-paced, competitive, sweaty fun. We’re absolutely loving this sunshine, although it definitely makes the sports hall a little warmer than usual! Thankfully, that didn’t stop our marvellous Marvels from doing what they do best.

It was another fantastic evening of playing the game we all love, getting out of the house, catching up with friends and enjoying a great runaround. There was some excellent netball on show tonight, with fantastic shooting, brilliant interceptions, quick ball movement and a few cheeky passes that kept everyone on their toes!

A huge well done to everyone who came along. Thank you for bringing the energy, encouragement and smiles as always. Tuesday nights are quickly becoming a highlight of the week, and we can’t wait to do it all again next Tuesday! 🧡🏐
