Swim - lead the whole way, had Oliver Simon on my feet for a bit then switched out for 🏊♂️ made our way through the unexpected chop on the way out, then waves behind us on the way back. Iwan then blitzed past me on the run in to transition

Bike - headwind on the way out so pushed on to the turnaround had about 3 minutes to next on the road, rode the tailwind all the way home, looking back at it this is where 𝐆𝐫𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐮𝐝𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐬 and Tom Bill | TB Triathlon put around a minute in to me so maybe should’ve carried on pushing
Forgot my HRM and power meter kept dropping out so no data but 42kph
Run - glutes seized up as soon as I stepped off the bike, maybe from such an aerobar heavy course, so took a little while to get going but pushed on as soon as I got my legs back under me. Knew I had a big gap after the bike but wasn’t sure how much until the turnaround where I saw Zac at 2 mins followed by everyone else shortly after, I was hoping for 4 minutes so knew he would catch eventually. Didn’t know it at the time but Tom Bill | TB Triathlon started in the second wave so where he was 5 mins behind he was actually level with me at this point. Couldn’t see anyone behind me on the finish chute so could chill out a bit
3:57/k which isn’t my best work but a rolling course made it tough
Overall happy with the race and couldn’t have given any more, pleased to take 3rd in British champs too!
