The First Team travel to face Milton Reserves and The Reserves host FC Peterborough Development at The Triangle. Both teams kick off at 14:00!

The Women’s First Team host Arnold Eagles in today’s first round qualifying fixture of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup! 🏆

In what promises to be a tough test, the Steelwomen take to the pitch competitively for the first time this season, at their new home ground. It’s our first-ever home FA Cup game, and with the Steelwomen coming up against higher-level opposition, we know it’ll be a tough test. But this group is ready. 💪

We’ll give everything we’ve got and fight for every ball from the first whistle to the last.

After a decent start to the season Weldon looked to build on that when welcoming McPave FC to the Triangle.

Quick start for Weldon - Ciaran wins header from a poor McPave throw in - Jardine threads a defence splitting pass through for Isaac to run on to - he takes his time and squares for Albert to tap into an empty net - 1-0 WELDON!!

Weldon keep pressing looking for a second and didn’t have to wait for long - Spence pings a beautiful pass out to Isaac with outside of his foot - Isaac drives past his defender with first touch then gives keeper eyes and slots near post - 2-0 WELDON!!

Some quality in middle of the park makes it 3 - Corben holds off two men and switches ball out to Albert who bravely gambles and finishes - 3-0 WELDON!!

The goals just kept coming! Jardine roasts two defenders with a drag back sending them to shops then bursts away and smashes bottom corner with a crisp finish - 4-0 WELDON!!

We let our standards slip and some poor defending let McPave in after we don’t deal with a ball over the top - 4-1 WELDON!!

Weldon fire back with an instant response just before the half - Jardine swings in a FK right on Franks head who bravely nods home - 5-1 WELDON!!

HT - got to be ruthless and get more goals was the message.

Boys picked up where they left off in first half - Albert swings in a cross that deceives the keeper, hits the post and Isaac reacts quickest to finish! - 6-1 WELDON!!

Weldon then handed a gift when a McPave backpass rolls underneath keepers foot - 7-1 WELDON!!

McPave don’t give up and keep pushing looking to catch us on the counter and got themselves another consolation - 7-2 WELDON!!

Jamie Muir with his first two touches turns his man and floats one for Isaac to run on to, chops inside his defender and buries in bottom corner with a quality finish - 8-2 WELDON!!

Albert’s work rate and persistence was quality all day pressing and rushing the McPave back line into mistake after mistake - hard work paid off when gets his hatrick - 9-2 WELDON!!

Kiero AKA Maicon bursts down his wing from full back, out muscling two men on the way and lobs keeper from miles out - was it a cross? We’ll take it! - 10-2 WELDON!!

Isaac who was on fire today fancied his luck from range - initial shot was saved but Albert gambles and reacts quickest to tap in - 11-2 WELDON!!

Before the final whistle there was time for Kyle Jardine to get his second of the match with a tidy finish and make it 12 for a rampant Weldon UTD.

🔴 League Table ⚫️

Going into September here’s the latest league tables for both the first team and reserves.

The first team despite suffering one defeat have won the other four games and are currently top of the league going into this weekend.

The reserves remain unbeaten winning 3 of 3 seeing them 3rd with two games in hand on top of the league.

Hopefully many more 🍒🍒🍒 coming home this month for both teams.

A depleted squad of 12 made the absolute trek over to Woodford - enough quality in the squad but would numbers affect us ?

Nope!

Boys opened the deadlock after wide man Sam does well to find Ciaran in middle of the park who after listening to our linos shout of “HIT IT!” pings a shot towards goal, deflects off a defender past the keeper - 1-0 WELDON and good for the lead.

Woodford pushed and created a few chances of their own but stand in keeper Mark and a makeshift back line were superb in denying them to keep our lead in tact.

Weldon came out blocks fast and quickly asserted their dominance on the game - some beautiful football being played and was only a matter of time.

Few minutes later Ciaran plays Jamie in who calmly slots bottom corner to double the lead - good to see the big man back on the scoresheet! 2-0 WELDON!!

The defence dealt with the Woodford onslaught superbly - aerial threat? Not today with the Tinarwo boys at the back!

Third goal to wrap up the game came after a flowing move to breakdown the Woodford defence with Hornby setting Spence at the back post to smash bottom corner - 3-0 WELDON!!

DOD goes to gaffer for forgetting keeper gloves and needing an impromptu visit to Argos in Woodford 🤷‍♂️😂 (First Clean Sheet of Season)

3 GOALS. 3 POINTS. JOB DONE!

6 POINT SATURDAY FOR THE CLUB WITH RESERVES 5-1 WINNERS AT HOME TOO!

🔴 Full Time ⚫️

Another dominant win for The Reserves as it ends Weldon Res 5-1 Weedon.

5 minutes in Corben plays a lovely ball into Kyle who slots it home making it 1-0. Shortly after Tommy plays another ball over the top of the defence that Kyle slots home 2-0.

The pressure didn’t stop as Kaden scores after a flick on from Kyle making it 3-0 and just before half time Kyle scores his third after a ball in from Kaden. Half time 4-0.

Kaden scored again in the second half after Fin put a ball across to him which he calmly finished. The away side scored a consolation goal late on but I heard it was offside.

Full time 5-1!!!
