⚠️ Please note, blue-green algae is present in the lake.
Please keep dogs (and yourselves!) out of the water and adhere to the signage in place.

Please ensure you maintain good hygiene practices when fishing at the lake to avoid any potential harm.

The Environment Agency will be testing again today to ensure the water quality meets required standards.

⚠️ East Carlton Country Park

Please note, there will be a road closure ⛔ on the A427 between 9.30am and 3.30pm daily on 7, 8 and 9 July 2026.

Access to East Carlton Country Park - Cafe and Shops can be made by (Market Harborough direction) via the village of Ashley , down Ashley Road and up Wire Lane. Coming from Corby, all traffic will have to go down Rockingham Hill, through Rockingham Village, turn left and drive through the villages of Cottingham and Middleton and then on to the village of East Carlton and drive through the South Gate entrance.

Now the temperature has cooled, come along to the Corby & District Lions Club family funday being held at East Carlton Country Park - Cafe and Shops today. There will be lots of fun for all family - Please note, there is a non-compulsory parking charge to raise money for charity.

EXTREME HEAT WARNING 🌞🌞

The Met Office has issued a rare red warning of extreme heat from 9am on Wednesday 24 June to 9pm on Thursday 25 June for parts of Northamptonshire. This is further to the amber warning that is currently in place.

If you are visiting our parks, please
🥤 ensure you have plenty of water with you
🌳 keep to the shady areas, wear a hat and apply sun cream
🐕‍🦺 walk your dog early or late when the temperatures are at their lowest
💧 STAY OUT of unsupervised bodies of water

The current Public Space Protection Order relating to dog control is under review. If you would like to find out more please visit the web site.

We are currently consulting on whether an existing Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) relating to dog control should be extended for a further three years.

The current PSPO was introduced in 2023 for the whole of the North Northamptonshire area.

🎣 CORBY BOATING LAKE - update

We’d like to reassure visitors and anglers following recent concerns about fish in the lake.

Our team recently met with the Environment Agency to investigate and carry out water quality testing, including oxygen and pH levels. The results were found to be normal for a lake of this type at this time of year, and no immediate concerns were identified.

It’s believed that a combination of natural seasonal factors—such as spawning activity and recent warm weather—may have contributed to the issues observed.

We will continue to work closely with the Environment Agency and local fishing groups to monitor the lake closely and ensure conditions remain suitable for wildlife.

🐟 SPRING UPDATE 🐟

🌸 Late spring to early summer is the primary spawning period for many UK fish species, including carp, bream, and roach.

❤️‍🩹 During this period, fish experience significant physical stress, often resulting in exhaustion, injury, and increased susceptibility to disease.

🌤️ In addition, spawning activity and rising temperatures can lead to temporary reductions in dissolved oxygen levels, which is widely recognised as one of the most common causes of fish deaths in lakes and ponds.

For reassurance:
💠 Corby Boating Lake is fitted with aerators, which actively increase oxygen levels and improve overall water quality.
💠 These aerators are serviced annually to ensure they remain fully operational.
💠 Water quality is monitored monthly, with records maintained on file to track conditions over time.
💠 Our ranger team have been working with the anglers and bailiffs to monitor the levels of dead fish and arrange appropriate disposal of the dead fish

📋 These measures are standard best practice and significantly reduce the likelihood of large-scale or prolonged fish mortality events.
