Match Report: Culloden United vs Contin FC - 03 June 2026

After a disappointing result last time out, and a series of away games, Contin FC travelled to Culloden United looking to put in a better performance.

The squad was stretched, with only 12 players available, which made it a tough afternoon against a decent Culloden side. Culloden took their chances well and ran out 3–0 winners, but the Contin players stuck at it and kept working throughout. The scoreline didn’t fully reflect the effort put in.

There were still positives to take, and if the team keeps applying themselves in the same way, results should start to turn.

A disappointing result for Contin at home in the league to Raigmore FC last night, going down 3-1 at home.

Our goal came from Shaun Golden, who produced a lovely flicked header from distance after a well-delivered longer pass caught the defence out, giving us the lead heading into half-time. Although Raigmore would have felt hard done by, having had the bulk of the possession.

Unfortunately, just after the restart, we conceded a penalty which proved to be a real turning point in the match. Raigmore continued to push forward and eventually got their rewards as the pressure told.

Credit to Raigmore FC who deserved the win on the night.

Next up in the League, we face Grahams Academical on Wed 20th at the Bught.

Contin FC kicked of their Ocho First Division league campaign with a 2-2 draw at home to Slackbuie Rovers last night at Munro Park.

An end-to-end encounter finished all square after a busy second half produced 3 goals and controversial penalty decision.

Slackbuie Rovers took the lead just before half-time going into the break 1 up. 15 minutes after the restart, Craig Gardiner reacted first to a loose ball, winning possession and driving forward positively to drag defenders out of position. That created the space for Houssam Alhasan, who cut inside and unleashed a superb strike from 20 yards that flew into the top corner.

Slackbuie regained the advantage with around 20 minutes remaining when a dangerous ball into the area caused problems and a Contin defender unfortunately turned it into his own net.

However, with 15 minutes left, Connor Mitchell broke forward from the back, exchanged a clever one-two with Houssam, and rifled an unstoppable effort into the net from 30 yards to make it 2-2.

Contin had the better of the closing stages and looked certain to be awarded a penalty with 10 minutes to go after what could only be described as a stonewall challenge in the box, but the claims were waved away. With 5 minutes to go Slackbuie hit the post, but neither side could find a winner with the game finishing all square.

MOTM - Mark McKernie.
