Blackfyne Junior Football Club was formed in 1998. It is an aim of the club to provide the opportunity for as many children as possible to play football in a safe environment within the limitations of its current playing facilities. Throughout the existence of the club it had been based at Consett Community Sports College through links to Blackfyne Community Association. The recent creation of a n
ew Academy in Consett (on a new site) and subsequent closure of CCSC and demolition of the building has left the club with depleted facilities. The club has grown steadily from a small number of age group teams to its current position of fielding sides in a number of local leagues from Under 7's to Under 17's along with a new U23 side. To cater for the demand of those wishing to play and be involved in 'our great national game', we field at least one team at all Mini Soccer age groups (Under 7 to Under 10) . The 2003/04 season saw an expansion in to girls football, while currently there is not a girls team playing under the club umbrella it is an area which the club expects to see grow in future years.
