MY WHY
After nearly 20 years, thousands of client and athlete results, four buildings, and Spartan 6.0 now on the horizon… I recently found myself in Columbus, Ohio, sitting down with Dave Tate on Table Talk at EliteFTS.
It’s been quite the journey.
And yet, somehow, I find myself more motivated now than ever before.
Why?
This picture is a big part of the answer.
Hanging on our gym wall is a custom-made metal shield of the Spartan emblem, alongside my personal motto: I Tan I Epi Tas.
It was gifted to me by a current client who wanted to show appreciation for the work we’ve done together.
Truthfully, it stopped me in my tracks.
Not because of the gift itself, but because of what it represents.
The real reward in this industry is knowing you’ve had a genuine positive impact on someone’s life.
Not just helping them lift more weight.
Not just helping them look better.
But helping them become stronger, healthier, more confident, and better outside the gym too.
When I started Spartan, I dreamed of building a gym like Joe DeFranco’s, training at EliteFTS, coaching champions, and becoming the best coach I could be.
All worthy goals.
What I didn’t realise back then was that the thing that would mean the most wouldn’t be trophies, numbers, or milestones…
…it would be earning this kind of trust and respect from the people I coach.
That matters more.
So Phil, thank you!
Your generosity genuinely humbled me, and I’m incredibly grateful.
And to every client who has trusted Spartan and committed to the process, thank you.
That is, and always will be, the real why.
Jack.
