⚽️🔴⚫️ Under 13’s Match Report ⚽️🔴⚫️

Ferryhill Miners woke up at 4am to travel to consett for a 8.30am KO. 😅

I was half expecting a slow start, but even in the warm ups the boys looked up for it which was great to see.

First 10 minutes was quite tense, with both teams not willing to overload the opposition. I usually ask for my fulls backs to push and support but I wanted to keep it tight early doors and George, Shane & Finley did exactly that. Those three were exceptional throughout the game and gave us a solid base to play some attacking football.

Miners found their stride and were rewarded with their high press and attacking football when they took the lead through Finley after a lovely corner from Charlie. Charlie then turned from provider to goalscorer to make it 2-0 and give us a sense of control.

Every player was doing their part, from all the wingers supporting and defending to the midfield two winning the balls and playing forward.

With such a talented team it’s always tricky to pick a starting 9, but what impressed me today again was the attitude of the subs coming off and on. Really impressed me.

We conceded just before HT which made the scoreline more tense than we wanted.

Second half started and we came out the blocks flying, Owen who was constantly on the move all game finished a great attack. Grayson, Harley & Del were always a threat from wide positions and we made it 4-1 when Charlie doubled his tally with a well taken goal.

Again more subs were made but they all did great, theo was solid at LB and we made changes to the attack but all grafted so hard.

Brody, Logan and Del were so solid in midfield today not giving them space and finely was a rock at the back reading & winning everything and smashed home his second too to make it 5-1.

We conceded sloppy goal to make it 5-2 but still didn’t affect the lads morale as we finished the game deserved winners

Last two games I’ve found it so hard to pick a player of the match which shows the level of performance, attitude and ability in the team but this week Finley gets it, 2 goals and MOTM performance at the back, in front of his travelling “Finley army”.

Ferryhill Miners Men's secure their first win of the season! ⚽️

The lads travelled to Langley Park for what was always going to be a feisty game.

We started brightly, with our high pressing causing Langley plenty of problems. We took the lead through Hope Mombera, who gambled at the back post to slot home, but Langley responded almost instantly from a corner.

We remained solid at the back, with John Poulson keeping Langley's "star striker" firmly in his pocket. His frustration eventually boiled over into a few rash tackles and a deserved yellow card. Make sure you get the £12 off him, Langley! 🫡

Langley had more of the ball after the break but failed to create any real chances. We remained dangerous on the counter and Aaron beat his man before rifling the ball into the top corner.

We defended brilliantly to see out the game and secure a 2-1 victory!

Unfortunately, there was some nonsense after the final whistle, with a few Langley lads trying to settle personal beef with one of our players. Completely unrelated to football and even the proper Langley lads were horrified by it.

Shout out to the fella who appeared out of nowhere with no top on and a serious case of T-shirt tan though. 😂

A bit more commotion followed in the car park, but thankfully we left unscathed and more importantly, with the three points!

Ferryhill Miners Under 14’s travelled to North Ormesby in their first league game of the new season.

Ferryhill created some good opportunities early doors but the keeper was making some great saves and against the run of play North Ormesby opened the scoring to make it a 1-0.

5mins later a rare defensive mistake let in the home team to make 2-0.

Ferryhill kept plugging away and eventually got their breakthrough with a great pass from Alfie to Dylan who slotted home to make it 2-1.

Then 5mins later Benny dropped a lovely ball into the path of Louis W who placed the ball into the bottom corner to level the game at 2-2.

With the scores level Dylan went down the left wing and went past 3 defenders and he hit a shot in which the keeper saved and fell back to Alfie who hit it into the roof of the net to make it 3-2.

Just before half time Ferryhill made it 4-2 with a superb volley direct off a corner from Louis W into the bottom corner of the net to get his 2nd of the game.

Ferryhill came out for the 2nd half and upped the tempo and played some great football, a direct kick from Tyler played in Louis W to seal his hat trick and make it 5-2 with a superb shot into the bottom corner.

It was 6-2 straight after when Joey finished off a cross into the box at the back post.

The Miners continued to play some great football when Louis R went down the left pulled it back to Jax who squared it at the edge of the 18 yard box for Declan to bury it into the top corner which was a superb finish.

10mins later it was 8-2 when Benny shot and Joey followed up the rebound to make it 8 and his 2nd of the game.

The last goal Alfie played a ball into the path of Joey in which he hit a shot low and hard outside the 18 yard box which nestled into the bottom corner to make it 9 and score is hat trick.

The ladies hosted Hurworth this afternoon for their first game of the season and secured all 3 points after a fantastic performance. 🙌

With only 12 available the ladies knew they had to go into this match and give their absolute all and that’s exactly what they did!

Emily got us off to the perfect start running at the Hurworth defence and scoring a great goal. This was a wake up call for Hurworth and they went into half time 3-1 up.

Half time we regrouped and made a few tactical changes and then went into the 2nd half a new team totally dominating possession and looking threatening on every attack.🔥More goals came from Emily, one for Aimee and 2 for Lou 2 who scored a beauty freekick and a goal from the spot. Big shoutout to the defence who were absolute solid at the back and not letting Hurworth in.

An absolutely outstanding team performance and a great start to the season!

U12’s Match Report ⚫️🔴⚫️🔴

What a way to kick off the season! 🙌

The team headed away to Greatham Blues for their first game of the season and came away with a fantastic 9–2 win and all three points! ⚽️

Finley Steel got us off to the perfect start with a great strike from near the halfway line! 🚀

The first half was a little scrappy, but once we settled down, moved the ball quicker and took fewer touches, the football started to flow and the goals followed. We went into half-time 4–1 up.

The second half was even better! 🔥

One of our favourite goals came from a brilliant team move. Seth held the ball up before finding Bobby, who switched the play to Charlie. Charlie then showed great composure to finish neatly around the keeper. 👏⚽️

A fantastic team performance from the team, scoring 9 and conceding just 2 to start the season with 3 points! ❤️🖤

U11’s match report ⚽️

Our new u11’s team headed up to the Russell foster centre this morning for their opening game of the season.

A fantastic first half performance from the miners who were playing some good attacking football. Riley gough was great driving the team forward and played some good through balls to Astin, who scored a screamer and Hylton for bagging himself a hatrick! ⚽️

After taking a 4-2 lead the team continued to work hard with Riley gash putting in a strong midfield performance, backed up by Cooper James and Skylar in defence. Alyssia had the right wing under control getting past the defender every time and was unlucky to not come away with a goal.

A special mention to our new keeper Louis in his first league game who made some outstanding saves throughout the game.

A very entertaining game and a good all round team performance but unlucky to come away with a 5-4 defeat.

⚽️⚫️🔴 Under 13’s Match Report ⚽️⚫️🔴

The under 13’s miners kicked off their season in style with a convincing 8-0 win. The scoreline was a testament to every player on the pitch, from Quin in goal who was off his line quicker than ever before, to the back line of George, Shane, Oscar, Lucas and Finley who were all commanding. George & Oscar were leading the line and reading everything, whilst Shane, Finley and Lucas’s anticipation and calmness was great to see. Special mention to Finley on a great first competitive debut. 👏🏻

Then we got to talk about the midfield/forwards - they were electric today and was a joy to watch, Brody played really well in holding and supporting role, to allow the attacking talent to really let loose and that’s what they did. Grayson was flying down the wing causing all sorts of problems all match & must of got 3/4 assists. Also on the wings we had Harley and Owen who’s direct running and dribbling was excellent, Harley movement today was really good and was rewarded with 3 well taken goals. Finally onto Charlie and Logan, who I played higher on the pitch and their shooting, movement and all round threat had the opposition team on edge. Logan with a cracking Hattrick including the vital first goal after their keeper made about 32 saves before we scored and Charlie with two great goals was just reward for their play. If it wasn’t for the cross bar Charlie could have had 2 more.

Overall great game, Washington Yellow kept fighting showed great attitudes and were a threat on the counter but Quin kept mopping up and made some good saves which juts earned him POTM, however it truly could of went to anyone, which is not often I say that.
