⛳️ Warning!! For any non-golfers, this is
seriously boring craic 😃
⛳️ Fair to say that I’ve not worked on my swing
for a very long time and only when I’ve
analysed some slow motion video footage
then it’s well overdue some attention!!
⛳️ People would say to me, you’ve got a lovely
smooth swing and yeah when you watch it,
the rhythm and timing are good but there’s
so much more to be considered.
⛳️ I was messing about hitting a few shots one
day last week and then I looked back at the
different movements and there’s two major
issues in my game.
⛳️ The screenshot shows that just after my
take-away…I move the club outside the line
before getting it back on the correct path.
This is caused by a forward press to begin
my swing that is now obvious that my
hands moves upwards and outwards, this
is a quirky movement that is a well
embedded habit 😔
⛳️ Secondly, as I’m moving down and through
into impact, I’m starting to stand up, my
legs become pretty straight and both arms
lock out. My hands do a lot of work through
impact and my poor shot is a over
exaggerated draw.
⛳️ Here’s me, thought I was uncoiling the
lower half…subtly moving my body down to
create a nice descending blow to the ball
before transferring the weight and rising into
the follow-through!! How wrong I was!
⛳️ So I spent a little time rehearsing an over
exaggerated movement time after time, and
applied it to a few shots later that week.
⛳️ The last couple of vids are where I’m really
working the feel and movement of
lower half rotation and downward pressure to
the ball before rising into a full follow through
position.
⛳️ When I looked back at the last vids…it looks
better but still nowhere near where it should
be. My biggest lesson from this, is when we
are implementing movements and changes
that are unusual, we should exaggerate
and drill these movements a number of times
on a daily basis, get the feel of what we are
wanting our body to do and then repeat,
repeat so we can create new muscle
memory before we hit golf shots and expect
instant results.
