Sometimes, it can feel like unless you are going to smash the session, that its not worth turning up.
I'll let you into a secret..... No one smashes every session. We have good days and not so good days. The people who see the biggest progress are the ones who understand this. They come anyway and give what they can that day. Because doing something is always better than doing nothing at all.
We will meet you where you are on any given day.

Come and see what that means in practice. DM for information on how to get a taster session.

It was really positive this morning chatting with Emily, one of the Founders of Metfix.
We had a great time exchanging success stories and really exploring ways to get the message of just how good the sessions we provide are to the local community.
There are so many ways which we have seen changes in our members. Which go far deeper than just cosmetic changes. Although we've seen plenty of them as well.

This was a fun session working on balance in lots of different ways.
Many injuries, especially when older, come from trips, slips, and falls.
By working on our balance, we are helping to stack the scales in our favour. So that if things happen, we are more likely to manage it without injury.

Our training is designed to help you have a longer and more independent life.

Meet Lynn.
Lynn trains with us three times a week along with her son and daughter.
When Lynn joined us, it was to help maintain her bone density and strength.
Well, she has smashed that and not only maintained her strength but increased it.
The first time Lynn did squats it was with 7kg. This week she did 50kg.
Lynn loves to try new things, but the thing that has had the biggest impact in her progress is just showing up consistently and listening to the advice the coaches give.
We all could do with being a little more like Lynn when it comes to exercise ☺️☺️

After doing a strength session on squats, we had some fun. Although, this synchro was likened to YMCA by the rest of the group 🙈😂🙈

One of my favourite sessions of the year so far.
So many families choosing to come and have some fun together.
One thing we get told a lot is that most gyms are not family friendly. We love kids, they are welcome to come and watch when parents are working out, they are welcome at our children's class. And every now and then we have great chaotic fun doing a big workout all together.
Normalising exercise being fun and part of what families do is really important to us.

So if any of this looks like you would enjoy it, please get in touch and come and try it out for yourself

This is said with nothing but love, I just feel like there’s a lot on conflicting advice out there and it might be nice to have a fresh perspective from someone who is exceptionally average at everything but also very happy and healthy now.

Recently I’ve been eating a lot less processed carbs, for a few reasons, 1. They make me crave junk, a bowl of pasta leads me to a bar of chocolate in the blink of an eye, there’s science if you’re interested, but it’s a trend I noticed so I dropped the processed carbs and the cravings stopped. If you struggle with your weight like I did, always seem to need a sweet treat, might be the same for you too?
It’s not no carb, it’s no crap. 🍖🥓🥩🍗🥚🍳🍎🥒🥑🌽🥦🥕🍄🥜

2. I was struggling to bring my blood sugar back down after, even with the volume of training for an iron man, hyrox and CrossFit, I’d done all the reading about how many carbs per hour I’d need to be fuelling for these training plans, and I was getting headaches and pain behind my eyes and then I dawned on me…… I’M NOT A F*CKING ELITE ATHLETE. 😱 yes I do quite a lot of exercise, but I’m not trying to win any of it and that’s the exact point.

I’m exercising because I enjoy it and to be HEALTHY, and ramming glucose sachets down my neck for the sake of being a couple of minutes faster on a 10k I’m doing for fun just isn’t worth the health trade off for me. I’m metabolically flexible, my body will happily run off fats for my everyday life and 99% of the exercise I’m doing for fun.

Yes, when I’m doing something that’s very high intensity or if I am trying to actually win or need to be super fast at something I eat more carbs, but I ran a Hyrox Pro pairs sim in 1:17 fasted (too nervous to eat), can do 100km bike on bacon and eggs for breakfast, and often do CrossFit workouts on nothing but hopes and dreams. I’m not keto, I eat loads of veg and fruit whenever I fancy it. If you’re training to win, and carbs work for you, 100% smash it, but if you’re training for fun/ health it’s sometimes worth finding a more balanced approach ❤️
