Colwyn Bay v Rhyl 06/09/2026
First game of the season saw us at home against Rhyl, with a few new faces on board.
Squad selection had to be altered on the morning due to players missing, illness, and injuries.
We started with a changed front row of Kieran, Rufus, and Jacob, who performed well against a big Rhyl front row in the scrum, carrying well, getting around the pitch well, and very mobile. Leo, coming into that front row, kept the same level of intensity and increased lineout options.
Second row saw Efan and Max pack down together for the first time: strong, good tackles, and rucking.
Back row of Elliott, Xander, and Gethin required changes early on, with the hard‑tackling Elliott going off to be replaced by Alfie. Good lineouts, carries, lots of tackles coming in from the loose forwards, along with a few lineout steals.
Beau and Emyr linked the forwards and backs, keeping the game high tempo and showing good match awareness. Logan came in to keep the same going throughout the game.
With Rhion and Freddie on the wings, Ezra and Theo as centres, and Daniel at fullback making for mobile backs, Oscar B and Will B came into wing and fullback positions. They showed their versatility as Oscar moved to flanker to cover injuries.
