💗🖤 NEW SEASON. NEW KIT. 🖤💗

There was a little extra excitement as the girls finally got to pull on their brand-new Whalley Girls kit! 👕😍

Even better, the girls chose it themselves! 🙌 They voted for their favourite design, so it was brilliant to finally see their choice become a reality.

Of course, none of it would have been possible without the fantastic support of our kit sponsor, The Rum Fox in Grindleton. 🦊💗

The shirts only arrived back from the printers on Friday, so it was a bit of a last-minute dash to have everything ready for our first league game! 😅

But it was absolutely worth it! We think the girls look fantastic! 🔥👌

💗🖤 WHAT A WAY TO START THE SEASON! 🖤💗

After a summer of tournaments and a well-earned rest, it was brilliant to finally get the competitive season underway this morning! ⚽🙌

And the girls were absolutely superb. 👏🔥

With 9 of the team playing up a year and 4 players making their league debut for Whalley, there were plenty of new challenges for the group, but you wouldn’t have known it from the way they approached the game.

From the first whistle to the last, the attitude, effort and togetherness were top class. 💪💗

The girls worked incredibly hard for each other, moved the ball really well and were so unselfish throughout. It was a real team performance, with six different girls getting on the scoresheet:

A special mention for Amelia, who swapped goalkeeping duties for penalty-taking duties and confidently found the back of the net! 🧤➡️⚽👏

The rain certainly didn’t make things easy either 🌧️, so maintaining concentration and standards throughout was a real test, but the girls stayed focused, kept working and continued to play for each other right until the final whistle.

Whether you were scoring goals, creating chances, defending, making saves, winning the ball back or doing the work that doesn’t always make the highlights, everyone contributed to a fantastic team performance. 🙌

With so many girls playing up a year and several new faces settling into the team, there was so much to be proud of today.

A fantastic way to begin the new season: brilliant football, brilliant attitude and, most importantly, a brilliant team performance. 💗🖤⚽

We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Orla and her family to the Whalley Girls! ⚽️🙌

Orla is a really strong player with a huge amount of potential, and she did brilliantly when she joined us for training. We’re really excited to see what she can do as she settles in, gets to know the girls and continues to develop with the team. 💪⚽️

But just as importantly, she seems like such a great kid, and we couldn’t be happier to have her and her family as part of the Whalley family. 💗🖤

💗🖤 PRE-SEASON WIN FOR THE GIRLS! ⚽

Whalley Girls 1–0 Clitheroe Wolves Pinks

A brilliant performance from the girls this morning in our first game back after the summer break.

With no substitutes, a few tired legs and a number of new faces settling into the team, the girls worked incredibly hard from start to finish against a very strong Wolves Pinks side who will be playing in the division above us during the first half of the season.

What was most pleasing wasn't just the result, but the way the girls played. We're rebuilding the group for the new season and already there were some really encouraging signs of the football we're trying to play.

⚽ FANCY A FRESH FOOTBALL CHALLENGE?

Whalley Girls U12s are looking to welcome one or two experienced players into our squad for 2026/27.

We’d love to hear from girls going into Year 6 or Year 7 who already enjoy their football. Whether they currently play on Saturdays, attend a skills centre or extra coaching, or are simply looking for a regular Sunday team where they can continue to develop.

⏱️ MEANINGFUL GAME TIME
We deliberately keep the squad small so every player gets plenty of involvement, time on the ball and opportunities to develop.

🧠 DEVELOPMENT-FOCUSED COACHING
Sessions are designed to improve technique, confidence and understanding of the game, while keeping football enjoyable.

🩷 POSITIVE, AMBITIOUS AND FUN
After a brilliant season competing up an age group, we’ve built a supportive group where the girls work hard, encourage each other and enjoy playing together.

Whether your daughter is looking for more Sunday football, a fresh challenge or simply a different football environment, she’d be very welcome to come along to a training session, meet the girls and see how she finds it.

What an incredible season it's been.

This year wasn't just about results or trophies, it was about stepping up, embracing new challenges, growing together as a team and making memories that will last a lifetime.

Playing up a year against older opposition, these girls showed fantastic determination, resilience and togetherness from the very first game to the last.
