Say hello to Andy, our new head Groundsman.

For those of you who have visited Kelbrook over the past several weeks will have already met him and noticed his presence.

Andy has a building and maintenance background and is already starting to show improvements over the ground with a keen eye for detail.

He will be working alongside Aaron building more shelters and huts for the machines over the next few months and learning about clay machine maintenance to keep Kelbrook running even smoother than it currently does 👌

We have been busy again today setting new targets & layouts.
Also keeping ontop of regular maintenance and servicing of the machines to keep them on top form 🔧 (which equates to very few no-birds)

LOTS & LOTS of changes and plenty of QUALITY TARGET presentations for you to try out.

**JOB OPPORTUNITY - Head Grounds Keeper**

We have an opening for a full time Head Grounds Keeper at Kelbrook Lodge in Kelbrook, East Lancashire, a long standing family run clay pigeon shooting school and ground, located between Colne and Skipton.

The position is full time and the working days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

You will:

- keep the shooting ground clean, tidy and well maintained
- keep the clay traps filled and well maintained and change layouts
- assist in the shop as necessary
- unload deliveries
- carry out landscaping and building work from time to time

You need to:

- have a full driver’s licence and own car
- pass DBS check
- pass the Police background checks in order to obtain a shotgun certificate whilst working in the role
- be self motivated and enthusiastic and enjoy working outside at all times of the year
- be able to work independently, following daily and weekly routines and also work within a team structure

The role is physically demanding requiring lifting and movement of heavy mechanical equipment, 12v batteries and boxes of clays/cartridges.

Prior landscaping, gardening and/or building experience is preferred.
Prior clay shooting experience is not necessary. Training will be provided in relation to clay target machinery and its maintenance.

Salary - £32,000 - £34,000 pa

** Easter Opening Times **

Here are our opening times for this week and Easter weekend:-

Tuesday - 9.30am - 4pm
Wednesday - 9.30am - 4pm
Thursday - 9.30am - 4pm
Good Friday - CLOSED
Easter Saturday - 9.30am - 4pm
Easter Sunday - 11am-3pm
Easter Monday - CLOSED

The cafe will be serving food as usual on Saturday (9am-3pm) and Sunday (10am-2pm). Hot and cold drinks available during the week.

Weather forecast is looking drier and milder for the coming week.

* NEW LAYOUT UPDATE *

Spring looks like it’s starting tomorrow, with long range forecast predictions showing no rain for the next week 😱😎 (it’s about time!)

We have been busy today setting new targets & layouts for March also keen to keep ontop of maintenance and servicing of the machines to keep them on form for you 🔧

We have a major layout change round approx every 5 weeks, which keeps you on your toes, but yet long enough for you to have several attempts at building a score on some QUALITY TARGETS 👌

Lots & lots of changes and some interesting new target presentations not seen before, the raised platform stand on the lake now has 6x targets all thrown from below, which you shoot down on.
There’s a new “Pink” for the snooker layout.
And it’s the return of the “Brick Wall Stand” Throwing a huge R-L crosser, which is sat right at the top of the main tower!!

The remaining new machines which were delivered last year have also now been installed and incorporated into this layout.

The storm missed us last night and we are open as normal. No snow either. It’s nice and still here today too with no wind.
