Although Rayleigh kicked off, it was Coggeshall that launched the first attack as a Todd Hollocls cross landed on the roof pf the net and they took the lead in the fourth minute when Hollocks scored after a goalmouth scramble. Coggeshall continued to attack and after Jimmy Makanjuola won a corner, Lewis Nial’s kick was cleared, Josh Hudson, Rayleigh’s goalkeeper, parried a shot by Makanjuola to Hollocks and his shot was deflected for a corner, which Todd took and it was headed off the goal line. A Rayleigh free kick was deflected for a corner, Matthew Oaten put the ball wide from a Mitchell Ali pass, a corner was won which led to Joe Borein conceding another corner taken by Nathan Elgie, this led to Elgie taking another corner, and finding Dylan Jones at the near post who lashed it into the net for a 24th minute equalizer. Three minutes later Coggeshall were back in front as a move started by Hollocks and involving Charlie Bott and Borein who crossed for Nial to score and after half an hours play it was three as after Lewis Wallman was fouled, Nial’s free kick bobbled across the goal with no one getting a touch until Bott scored at the far post. Josh Blackburn, in the Coggeshall goal made an excellent save when diving at the feet of Oaten to claim the ball. Nial scored Coggeshall’s fourth in the 35th minute as he cut through Rayleigh’s defence and struck the ball from about 20 yards giving Hudson no chance. Elgie put a shot over the bar for Rayleigh, but from the clearance Coggeshall won a throw and from Ben McPherson’s long throw Bott headed over Hudson into the net for goal number 5 after 39 minutes. Borein headed out a Rayleigh cross, Blackburn turned Oliver Williams fierce shot round the post for a corner and as a freekick by Ali was headed clear it was half time.
HT 1-5
Rayleigh made two changes before the restart, Arnold Acheampong replaced Oatem and Matthew Bumpas replaced Robert West. Tommy O’Keefe was shown a yellow card for a foul but Jack Hyslop’s free kick came to nothing. Bott did well on the right by first winning the ball, beating a defender and getting a cross in for Makanjuola to score Coggeshall’s sixth in the 50th minute. Reece Edwards picked up an ankle injury and was replaced by Ross Debrick before Rayleigh got the match underway again. Rayleigh’s Ben Baxter had a free kick cleared, Hyslop had a shot deflected for a corner and Blackburn held a Baxter effort. On 58 minutes Rayleigh replaced Jones with Ishmeal Fiadzomor. A Baxter free kick was cleared and Borein blocked an Elgie shot. On 63 minutes Coggeshall replace Makanjuola with Joe Waller and soon after Rayleigh replaced Williams with Kye Munro. In the 67th minute Fiadzomor was shown a straight red card for a challenge on McPherson and before Blackburn took the free kick, Coggeshall replaced Nial who suffered an ankle injury with Jack Charnock and Rayleigh replaced Hyslop with Louie Watkins. Watkins and Baxter both had shots blocked before Hollocks shot wide at the other end. On 79 minutes Wallman became the third Coggeshall player to pick up an ankle injury, Dave Harrison was his replacement. Debrick put over a low cross which caused panic in the Rayleigh goal area before being cleared. Rayleigh pulled a goal back in the 88th minute when Blackburn parried a shot from Ali but it fell to Watkins who scored from close range. In stoppage time Waller had a shot that was deflected for a corner and Charnock tried a high long range shot that was wide. Hudson took a goal kick and the final whistle blew.

Coggeshall Town 4 London Fennecs 1 Thurlow Nunn League Div 1 South
Attn 81

Fennecs kicked off and for the first 5 minutes it was end to end then Lewis Nial won a corner for Coggeshall, which he took and after the ball came back to him, his second cross was blocked and cleared. Coggeshall keeper, Josh Blackburn, prevented a Fennecs attack by diving at the feet of Adam Toubal. Lewis Wallman put a ball through for James Long but Fennecs keeper, Seyed Pirmoradi was first to it, a cross by Long, who received the ball from Blackburn, was too high, and a move involving Ben McPherson, Long, Wallman and Nial ended with a corner which came to nothing. McPherson was fouled by Olumide Olagunju and Nial’s free kick saw Pirmoradi parry, appear to panic and finally clear a header. A cross from Wallman found Long and his shot was somehow saved by Pirmoradi and after Todd Hollocks won a corner, Nial’s cross landed on the roof of the net. Ahmed Ayoub met a cross by Xavier Quintero and it cleared the crossbar. After 37 minutes, Coggeshall’s Ben Towler picked up a hamstring injury and was replaced with Bailey Last. Toubal won a corner, he took it which led to him taking another two before Coggeshall’s defence cleared away. Long beat Pirmoradi but put his shot wide then Wallman met a cross from Long and put that wide. In stoppage time Quintero won a corner and Blackburn punched clear Toubal’s cross and Blackburn held a Islem Guerniche’s free kick and the whistle blew as he kicked up field.
Mainly thanks to Fennecs keeper the match was still goalless.
HT 0-0
Last picked up an injury during the 10+ minutes he was on the field and was replaced by Charlie Bott as Coggeshall restarted the match. A shot by Long was deflected into Pirmoradi’s arms, then a cross by Bott came off Toubal for a corner. Nial’s low corner was partially cleared by Gueriche, came back to Hewitt who hit it across goal, it came back to him off Raoug Laib, was lobbed back and eventually kicked clear. Coggeshall took the lead in the 52nd minute when Bott met a low cross from Long to score. A second goal came in the 58th minute when Hollocks took a quick throw to Wallman who cut inside and blasted the ball into the net. Three minutes later, it was three as Bott laid the ball through to Hollocks who side stepped Laib and fired past Pirmoradi. Coggeshall immediately replaced Wallman with Devon Raven and Nial with Jack Charnock while the Fennecs brought on Abdelaziz Khefacha for Ayoub. Blackburn held a Guerniche free kick and from the clearance a shot from Long hit the top of the crossbar. Alex Banyard fouled Quintero and Guerniche’s free kick was held by Blackburn. No one could get a touch to a Bott low cross that went about a yard past the post, the a Hollocks corner, won by Raven, was headed clear. On 73 minutes the Fennecs took off Toubal and brought on Hichen Mehta and a free kick of his was taken by Blackburn. With ten minutes remaining Coggeshall scored their fourth as a mis kick by Pirmoradi fell to Long who rolled the ball into the empty net. A minute later the Fennecs pulled a goal back when a badly misjudged tackle by Joe Borein on Michael Babarinde brought him down in the penalty area. Babarinde took the kick himself and sent Blackburn the wrong way to score. Pirmoradi got the better of a one on one with Raven, giving away a corner which Hollocks took and Ryan Pitt headed just wide. In stoppage time Raven was shown a yellow card for kicking the ball away, he then swore at the referee and was shown the second yellow and red card. For about the fourth time in the match, Guerniche hit a free kick direct into Blackburn’s arms and as in the first half the whistle blew as the keeper kicked up field.

Full time at west street see us take all 3pts, after a frustrating first half which we created plenty of chances but we went in 0-0 at HT, second half we showed more urgency to our game and finally we had the breakthrough thanks to a Charlie bott goal, the game then opened up and goals from Lewis Wallman, the skipper himself Todd hollocks and the man who finally got over his midweek illness 👀🍻 James long put us in control at 4-0, a late penalty allowed London fennecs to pull a goal back.
