Working from home could be impacting your health more than you realise.
You no longer do long commutes.
Your daily steps have significantly dropped.
You’re sitting for hours every single day.
And the fridge is never more than a few steps away.
So what’s happened as a result…
Your weight keeps slowly creeping up.
You can’t explain why your energy levels are unstable.
And your lower back is either stiff as a board or causing you constant pain.
Here are 3️⃣ simple ways to combat it:
1. Create opportunities to walk.
Take calls on your feet, walk after lunch or create a fake commute.
Aim for 60–70k steps across the week, rather than an overwhelming 10k steps per day.
2. Create structure around your food.
Plan 3 main meals and 1–2 snacks instead of mindlessly grazing throughout the working day.
Be strict on yourself, only go to the fridge for a set meal!
Always have a meal prepared as a backup for when decision fatigue sets in.
3. Break up your sitting.
Every 60–90 minutes get up for 3–5 minutes.
You should walk, squat or stretch and get your hips and lower back moving.
Working from home isn’t necessarily the problem.
But failing to replace the movement and structure you’ve lost from your working day can be.
If you want to stop gaining weight, putting up with a painful or stiff lower back and having unstable energy levels every day…
Then it’s time to make your health a priority!
