On Sunday 13th September the team won the Essex Handicap Youth Sheild, beating Bentley 3-2 in an unbelievable final at West Essex GC.

But this doesn’t tell half the story… Last year we entered our first team in over 20 years into the competition. After an impressive set of results in our league we were knocked out in the quarter finals by none other than Bentley’s juniors. Fast forward to 2026 and our section had grown to the point of being able to field two teams. Our second team failed to progress from the group stages but gained so much in experience which they will use in the years ahead, they were also always on hand to caddie and support the first team.

Making use of 9 players on rotation, the first team won all of their 8 league fixtures. These players who all played their part are Olivia Savage, Dan Cooper, Harry Irwin, Ben Irwin, Leyton Hince, Monty Malone, Bob Long, Drew Swanson and Freddie Waller.

This is a team effort! Players, parents, caddies, supporters, sponsors, junior organiser, captains, staff at the club… Thank you 🙏🏻

Tennis at the Essex golf and country club is moving inside with our NEW SEASONAL DOME!
There will be a small amount of disruption with one court being taken out of play and some noise but by the time we get to mid October we will have all 6 of our tennis courts inside.

We hope you come over and try all the different types of tennis we have to offer:
Free Adult court hire for all members
3 Club nights and mornings per week (free of charge)
Adult coaching group or individual
Play for one of our 19 adult teams
Compete socially in our adult box leagues
Bring to children down to join in on our junior tennis group program
And much much more

Car Park Disruption – Tennis Bubble Installation

Please be aware that there will be some disruption to the car park this week and into next week while the new tennis bubble is installed.

The section of the car park within the metal fencing next to the tennis courts will be used for the installation works and will therefore be unavailable during this period.

There will also be some noise and drilling while the necessary groundworks are carried out.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience while the work is completed. We’re looking forward to getting the new tennis bubble up and running!
