Very proud to host the first Wessex League event of the year. Awesome job from everyone in Wivenhoe HEMA who fought across 5 different categories, and provided a lot of the volunteer power that made the event a success! Big congratulations to Sylvie on her medal.

The first leg of the Wessex League is over - a massive thank you to everyone at Wivenhoe HEMA for making it possible! Well done to all our competitors and finalists.

Wivenhoe HEMA hard at work on tournament prep ahead of hosting the first leg of the this weekend. Fencing, coaching each other, and practicing the True Ancient Arts of laying out funny shaped pistes, forgetting to start the clock in HEMA Scorecard, and politely disregarding fencers disgusted looks when you fail to see their hits.

This year we are really excited to be running Womens+ events for all weapon categories!

Please note this means we are holding back some places in the Open tournaments until we know what capacity is needed for Womens+. If you miss out on an Open ticket in the first round of bookings please do sign up to the waiting list as there is a high chance you will get in when we release more places!

Had a great time in Exeter last weekend teaching Four Animals of Fiore at the excellent sparring day organised by ESG, and going back to my roots with the wonderful folks of IDC where I started HEMA 15 years ago!

So proud of team Wivenhoe at Hernes Cup! Gold medal for Rich in the rapier and really strong performance from Peter and Gary in the longsword in their first and second tournaments. Great to catch up with many old friends and make some new ones, and exciting to see the tournament scene in the UK progressing with a very high standard of organisation, skill, and good spirited competition.

Warming up for day two of Hernes Cup. Rich and Peter fighting in the rapier this morning and Peter and Gary in the longsword later. Great performance from Rich in sword and buckler yesterday coming top of the pools after some wonderfully clean and tactical fencing and only knocked out by a whisker fighting the eventual gold medalist. Peter in his first ever competition had a really good run in sabre getting through to eliminations and giving a close run to the eventual silver medalist. Excited to have three people representing Wivenhoe at this event!

Wivenhoe has gone west this weekend for Wolf Hunt- two days of outdoor team combat hosted by in Cardiff. We were honoured to be hosted at the Academy's regular class the night before the event to teach a workshop on Fiore's four animals. Thanks to Jordan and Melissa and the awesome group who brought loads of focus and creativity to the session. Pictures to follow from the main event!

Teaching a workshop at Fightcamp last weekend on Fiore's 4 animals. Felt very privileged to be teaching at such an awesome event again and grateful for the group who really got into the spirit of the class and got creative with it, even at the end of a long hot day. Had a fantastic weekend over all catching up with people, sparring, and competing.

Had a great time yesterday hosting Tommy Joe Moore The Bartitsu Lab for a joint charity seminar with Kuroten Practical Karate
Half a day of knife mitigation training followed by half a day of practical Bartitsu. Tommy's a superb instructor with a wealth of experience who can make training both intense and great fun. And all for a good cause- £750 raised for FairFight 🥳
