⚽ Not finished with football yet?

If you’re going into Year 11 this September and still fancy pulling your boots on, we’d love to hear from you.

Maybe you’ve taken a break, your old team has folded, you’re looking for a fresh start, or you simply miss playing.

We’re looking for one goalkeeper and a few committed outfield players to complete our squads for the 2026/27 season.

With three teams at Cockermouth JFC, there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy your football and, for those who want it, continue to develop and progress.

📍 Tuesday training (7:00–8:00pm) at Netherhall School, Maryport
⚽ Saturday matches in the West Cumbria Youth League
👕 Match kits provided thanks to our amazing sponsors.

If this sounds like you—or you know someone who’d fit in—drop us a message on Facebook or Instagram.

Please share this post. Someone out there might just be looking for one more season. 💛🖤

Our club needs your help - Treasurer required

Dear Parents, Guardians and Grandparents,

Today we’re asking for your help.

At the end of this month, our Treasurer, Murray Spiers, will be stepping down after more than 15 years of dedicated voluntary service to our club. We simply cannot thank Murray enough for everything he had done. His commitment behind the scenes has helped provide football for generations of children, often without many people ever seeing the hours and effort he given.

We have known about this for over a year. During that time, we have appealed for volunteers on several occasions, but unfortunately we have still not found anyone willing to take on the role.

We now find ourselves in a very serious position.

As a registered charity, the club must have a Treasurer. Without one, we cannot continue to operate as we do now, and the future of the club is at real risk.

This isn’t a message we ever wanted to send, but we feel it is important that everyone understands how critical the situation has become.

The role does not require a qualified accountant or someone with a financial background. We are looking for someone who is organised, comfortable working with numbers and spreadsheets, and willing to give some of their time to help the club. A full handover will be provided, and the committee will support whoever volunteers.

Every training session, every match, every tournament and every smile on a Saturday morning only happens because volunteers give their time. Like many grassroots clubs, we rely entirely on people stepping forward to help. Without volunteers, there simply isn’t a club.

If your child enjoys playing football with us, please take a moment to consider whether you—or perhaps a grandparent, family member or friend—could help. Even if you’re unsure whether you have the right experience, we’d love to have an informal conversation about what’s involved.

Please don’t assume that someone else will step forward. Right now, we genuinely need someone from our club community to help safeguard its future.

If you are interested or would like to find out more with absolutely no obligation, please contact a member of the committee as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued support. We hope that, together, we can ensure our club continues to give local children the opportunity to enjoy football for many years to come.

Kind regards,

Des Wright
Chairman
