πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Our next race is the Lambfoot Loop! πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Join us on Tuesday 7th July at 7pm for what is usually our most popular race of the year.

With our last two races selling out, we'd strongly recommend getting your entry in sooner rather than later if you want to be on the start line!

This fantastic 10km road race starts and finishes at Cockermouth School. The route heads out towards Embleton, tackles the infamous golf course hill (you'll definitely know you've done it!), takes in a short out-and-back towards Higham Hall, and then rewards your efforts with almost 5km of glorious downhill running back to the finish.

🍰 And, just like last year, every finisher will be treated to some absolutely delicious cake from The High Tea Guy, kindly funded by our brilliant race sponsor, Goodfellows Tyres.

πŸ† This is also your final chance to earn points in this year's Cockermouth Cup competition. The standings are incredibly tight, and there is still everything to play for!

Entries are expected to go quickly, so don't miss out.

We had another week at Bower Park parkrun yesterday for our club championships. There were some great times achieved and even better age graded %s.
Bower Park parkrun isn't on next week, so the world is your oyster and you can go anywhere you please 😊

While in Istanbul attending an allergy conference for work, Lydia went in search of a local parkrun and instead discovered an international running event featuring over 300 runners from around the world competing across 2.5km, 5km and 10km distances.

Never one to miss an opportunity to race, Lydia lined up for the 10km and produced a fantastic performance, finishing **4th overall** and taking the title of **first female across the line**! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ†

A huge congratulations to Lydia on an incredible result and for flying the flag for the club on the international stage! πŸ‘πŸŒπŸ‡ΉπŸ‡·

Last weekend, we received the devastating news of the sudden loss of one of our much-loved club members, Pete Faulkner.

Pete joined Derwent AC a few years ago and quickly became a valued part of our club family. He was always among the first to congratulate others on their achievements, offer encouragement, and wish fellow runners good luck before races. In fact, less than an hour before his passing, Pete was sharing a photo in the club group chat celebrating another Derwent AC member's success.

Pete's passion for running and adventure inspired many. Among his many achievements were completing a solo, unsupported Bob Graham Round in 2023, as well as taking on iconic ultra-distance events including the Lakeland 50 and the 5 Valleys Ultra.

His enthusiasm, kindness, and support for others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed by all at Derwent AC.

As a club, we will be undertaking a Bob Graham Round relay on 26th–27th June. Pete would undoubtedly have loved to have been part of this challenge, so we will be carrying his Derwent AC club vest as our baton throughout the relay, ensuring he remains part of the journey. His partner, Hannah, and son, Finn, will join us on the road leg into Keswick and will carry Pete's club vest with great pride.

Pete touched the lives of so many people and inspired countless runners. Together with Hannah, Finn, and Pete's parents, we would like to invite anyone who knew Pete to join us for a moment of reflection and remembrance.

We will gather on the summit of Sale Fell at 4:00pm on Sunday 28th June.

Whether you choose to run, walk, jog, or cycle, everyone is welcome. The only aim is to be on the summit at 4:00pm as we come together to celebrate Pete's life, his achievements, and the impact he had on so many of us.

Run well, Pete. You will never be forgotten.

Congratulations to Adam, Kevin, Dave, Peter, Nic and Lucy for taking on this evening's Keswick Athletic Club Round Latrigg Fell Race, part of our club championship series.

It was a fantastic effort from everyone on a challenging course, with some great performances across the board.

A special mention goes to Adam and Peter, who both smashed their 5km personal best times along the way – a brilliant achievement and a testament to all the hard work they've been putting in.

Well done all! πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈβ›°οΈ

Coach Phil was handing out the MOMOs this evening, and wow, did we earn them! πŸ˜…

Just 14 minutes of effort was enough to leave 3p of us all hot, sweaty, and questioning our life choices 🀣

Thankfully, the weather was on our side for onceβ€”the sun made an appearance, the rain stayed away, and we got to enjoy the session without getting soaked. A perfect evening for some hard work! πŸ’ͺβ˜€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ
