A special moment during this year's Lakes Tour as the event celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Ford Es**rt RS2000 Mk2.

Malcolm Wilson was reunited with both his car and co-driver, John Davis, from the 1977 Lombard RAC Rally, with the car having been meticulously restored ahead of the tour.

Founded in 2006, the Lakes Tour began with around 55 Mk2 RS Es**rts departing from Penrith Truck Stop and travelling through the Lake District before finishing in Kendal. Nearly 20 years later, it has become a hugely popular fixture in the historic Ford-owners’ calendar, attracting enthusiasts from across the UK and beyond.

With the tour taking place right on our doorstep in Cumbria, it was fantastic to see so many iconic cars and passionate enthusiasts celebrating such an important part of Ford and rallying history.

What a comeback! Kyle Gregg and Kreigg Yearwood went from a heavy accident at King of the Hill (the main seeding event for Rally Barbados) to finishing second overall on the main event just days later, and the story of how it happened is one for the books. 🥈

Parts were picked at M-Sport and packed on the Bank Holiday Monday, rushed to Heathrow Tuesday, and by Thursday afternoon the crew had them on the bench. Gregg’s team worked around the clock, borrowing parts from competitors, skipping sleep, refusing to quit, and got the car to the start line in time for Friday evening.

Two days later: second overall. Running the new Fiesta Rally2 2026 upgrade package, the car was quick all weekend, but none of it would have meant anything without the extraordinary effort of the whole team to get it there. 👊
