🍂 Autumn Term is underway !

👏 Well played everyone and a big welcome to our new families who came to Reed’s for the first time this weekend. We hope you all had a great 🎾 session.

👋 Parents - do you want to play 🎾 too ?

🙌 Great news - we are running some Parent Drills sessions at the same time as our Junior Sessions.

✅ These drop in sessions will include lots of feeding drills so everyone can join in whatever standard, hit balls, have fun and exercise while your children have their class.

✅ They are indoors.

✅ What a great way to spend 60 minutes rather than filling time 🎾💪😀

✅ Being able to play tennis as a family is really fun 😊

We are now getting ready for our Indoor Autumn Programme. We have classes for all ages and standards.

🔜 Groups start on Saturday 5th September.

All our classes:

Good Morning.....I hope you had a good (although different) Mother’s Day yesterday.

I came across this and thought it may be helpful as we move through the coming weeks.

Good luck as we start a new week in a different way but with the sun shining 🌞👍

Thanks to all those that played in the Social Mix Ins this weekend and to coach Andrew for running them. It was great to see some new faces alongside regulars and both Juniors & Adults playing 🎾together. Sorry to those that missed out on a space yesterday, because it was full 😢.

Here’s what’s coming up:

Saturday 14th March 3.30-5pm 1st 4 shots of the rally clinic for yellow ball Juniors & Adults. Improve your doubles & singles play.

Sunday 15th March - 2.15-3.45pm Social Mix In & Matchplay. Your chance to have some court time and meet others.

Sunday 22nd March - 2.15-3.45pm Social Mix In & Matchplay. To celebrate 👏👏Mother’s Day - Mums go free - please email to book.

Thanks and well done 👏 to all those who played in our Quorn Family Tennis Cup - a fun doubles tournament with 10 and under juniors playing with an adult family member using sponge balls on mini red courts.

Most of the children were playing in their 1st tournament, 🙏 to their lovely adult family members for making it relaxed, fun and social for everyone 👍😀

It was very close and the result 🥇came down to a deciding point 😅 - very exciting !

Thanks to for the prizes and to coach Ant for running it so smoothly 👍

Here’s us working on Doubles Teamwork and Positioning with our Tuesday morning group. 🎾

Doubles is such a great game and is very tactical ♟ so we spend time understanding 🗝 areas such as where to stand and practising working as a team and who is taking the middle ball.

Here is a fun warm up game to help everyone get the feeling of working and moving together as a team to cover the net.🤪

The court is split up into the 3 main sections and each pair is joined together by holding on to the racket. The 🎾 is thrown around the service box and the team must ensure that 1 player is in line with the ball to cover the tramline and the other player will have the middle section covered.

If the team move correctly there will always be someone covering the middle area, which is a super important part of the court to control. Even though you can only cover 2 out of the 3 sections, the middle player is able to intercept the ball as it passes towards the empty section.

Flashback to last April and our very 1st Quorn Family Tennis Cup. It was a brilliant event with our 10 and under players playing doubles with an adult family member - all using red balls and mini rackets on a mini red court.

It was one of my best days at Reed’s, seeing all ages playing and having fun and showing what a great family game tennis is 👏👏👏.

Saturday 29th February 3-5pm. 10U players and an adult family member. Doubles tournament. Indoors - so no wind or rain to contend with 👍 !

A great opportunity to focus on a particular shot to improve, eg, the serve as it can be tricky to learn or just hit lots of 🎾🎾 to hone your technique. Who wants to play 😀👍 ?
