Have I just become a mum? Meet Molly…🐶🐾

My nan is in her (early) 70s, living with Type 1 diabetes, and recently prescribed Mounjaro.

Since then she’s experienced significant weight loss, reduced strength, multiple falls, and now a serious knee injury.

She can no longer safely walk her own dog, a female Rottweiler mastiff. So I’m stepping in for now.

This isn’t about blame. It’s about what often gets missed.

In older adults, we measure weight far more than we measure muscle, strength, balance, and bone density.

And that gap matters.

Weight loss without strength is not health.
Strength is health.
Independence is the goal.

The number on the scale is not something to fear.

You should fear not being strong enough to pick up your kids, not being able to walk upstairs and losing muscle because of ‘quick fixes’ for fat loss.

Weight training, complimented by Pilates will keep your body in tiptop condition for longevity- alongside a healthy wholefoods diet, being outside and getting in steps 🧘‍♀️

But moral of the story, you should lift weights to support your Pilates and overall strength and wellbeing too.
