If you've been hibernating all year like a tonne of us have, piling on some extra quarantine weight, much like myself! and as a result your "get up and go" has well, "gotten up and went"...then the thought of getting back into a regular fitness/training routine can seem daunting ( even i was envious of setting foot back in the door a week ago after almost 8months of nothing but resistance bands and push ups at home).
And while there's no if's and but's about it—when you fall from the habit of working out regularly and losong your comfort zone... you will lose some progress. Its natural, if we don't use it- we loose it. so don't be deterred from having to take a step back in order to move forward.
Jumping back in too deep too soon is a sure fire way of heading straight to Snap City and burnout, my friends. Which is something NOBODY wants especially after the year gone by.
Challenges can be a good thing, but leave your ego at the door for now, as hard as it is PLEASE don't be tempted to shoot for a streak of P.B's in your first stint back.
Build up to it, take your time, ensure your lifting and exercising safely again, with correct technique and most of all make sure your enjoying the process, this is the main key to sustainability at this point in your journey.
If your using a gym again, fantastic! But remember to still keep safe and follow the gym rules, especially regarding covid.
And lastly, as you go through this process, do not be afraid to ask for help. Remember the PT's and coaches at the gym are just as passionate about getting back to the grind as your are!
If you've already started back, congratulations, and i hope you've all found the buzz for it again!
If your still procrastinating a little, or feeling a anxious, simply start by getting your foot in the door, or at the very least get up and get moving doing something you enjoy, get the ball rolling and the rest will come with patience.
Hope this (first post in a very long time!) Has helped!
