It's my Arlene' s Fitness and Wellness Centre 8th birthday today πŸ₯‚πŸΎ

Hard to believe that in March 2016 I opened the doors to my fitcamp for the first time 🩷πŸ’ͺ

When I set up it was because what I needed when I decided to lose weight and get fitter wasn't out there! It just simply didn't exist πŸ˜•

I wanted somewhere that

1. I wasn't judged for my size!
2. I was accepted for me!
3. I felt comfortable!
4. There were no mirrors
5. Girls only
6. Somewhere that made exercise fun...

So I thought why not create what you want and need cause surely there are other girls out there that want the same 🩷

I look around at the tribe of woman I have helped over the years...some are still with me from that first day and others have found the confidence to move onto other gyms (mainly due to work and life commitments)

I have absolutely LOVED the last 8 years, we have laughed in abundance, we have cried tears of joy and frustration, we have comforted each other at times of sadness but most importantly we have made friends for life!

To everyone that has ever come thru my door in the past 8 years I thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to be a part of your journey 🩷 and to anyone still on the sidelines I'm here when you are ready

So I'm saying the BIGGEST HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY to ME and my Fitcamp πŸŽ‚

I'm proof that anything is possible!! I was a girl with a dream and look where we are at now πŸ’• from the park, to the hub, to the church then to my very own studio!! πŸ’•πŸ’•

The past 2 years have tested me to my limit but having this safe space and my amazing girls have allowed me to heal and continue my passion for helping girls feel good in themselves regardless of their age shape or ability 🩷

Week 2 of our new routine, focusing on the lower back and how to relieve pain, strengthening the core and working on our posture πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

Some facts about pilates

Pilates concentrates on core strength, posture, balance and flexibility! πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈπŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

What's on each week?

Monday we have boxhiit - high intensity (sweaty) boxing and cardio class. Lots of fun and you burn a tonne of calories at the same time πŸ₯Š

Tuesday wake up and metafit with me at 7am on zoom πŸ™Œ 27mins of hiit to get the blood pumping and you buzzing for the day ahead!

Wednesday we have a double session πŸ‘Œ 6.15pm we have Fitcamp then 7.15pm we chill as I take you thru our weekly pilates routine, this series its aimed at strengthening the lower back and core muscles while working on your posture πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

Thursday at 6.15pm we have fitness pilates..... this class is pilates moves but intensified πŸ”₯ for the next 6 weeks we are using small balls along side a wall pialres routine πŸ§˜πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Friday we slow it down and get that to work creating our πŸ‘ asses.... 7am zoom for LBT only 30 mins but well worth getting up early! Or at least a think so πŸ˜‚

Saturday we start at 8.45 to end the week! Getting our sweat on at Metafit then finishing off with 30 mins of pilates stretches.... ideal combination to take the body from high to low which means fat burning lasts longer πŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ

Time to screw the nut as I have a holiday in 8 weeks ... eeeeekkkkkk πŸ™ˆ 2nd solo holiday but this time I'm going on an ✈️ so can't just turn around n drive home lol

First full week of classes done πŸ™Œ no going to lie my body has been saying "wtf Arlene" BUT I love the feeling.... call me sad but IYKYK 🀣🩷

For anyone struggling, nervous or unsure....Trust me I was that girl!!

9 years ago before I started i couldn't get gym clothes to fit me 😒 I was so unfit and stiff and sore I couldn't get on the floor without help and equally couldn't get back up! πŸ™ˆ

BUT I knew I needed to overcome it as I was 39 and spiralling out of control.

So If you know me you know im still a big girl...i like to say curvy lol cause im proud of my body. I won't ever be a size 10 but who cares....thats something I NEVER thought I'd say 🩷

Slow and steady has been my motto and at nearly 48 I love the skin im in and my health and fitness are on point πŸ’ͺ🩷

I created to be all the things I needed 9 years ago and I'm so proud of what I've achieved, and honoured that my girls put their trust in me week in and week out 🩷

Please don't struggle reach out I promise you won't regret it πŸ’― πŸ’ͺ🩷πŸ₯°

Tonight i introduced Wall Pilates as part of my Thursday fitness pilates routines. This is an excellent way to stretch your spine and help with better spinal alignment.

The workout also focused on the abs, the glutes, and the back muscles, helping to improve core muscles and reducing unhealthy curvature of the spine.

We finished our workout by holding our legs up the wall for 5 mins.

This pose helps improve blood circulation in your head and relaxes the neck and back muscles.

The combination of the Viparita Karani poses and deep breathing helps to slow your heart rate, which evokes a relaxation response and lower stress, tension, anxiety, and insomnia.

Over the next 8 weeks we will be focusing on strengthening the lower back and core muscles and ensuring posture is on point.

Most people spend their day either behind a desk or in the car which results in lower back and hip pain.

Good morning

Today is the unofficial first day of 2024! Today is when the country is "back to normal" so to speak. People make resolutions to start-

- being more healthy
- eating better
- exercising regularly
- doing more self care

But how about instead of putting pressure on yourself have a think πŸ’­ what actually makes you feel better and won't make you feel more stressed on a day that is actually one of the most stressful days of the new year!

Today I could have started my DX4 but instead I'm looking forward to my coffee this morning and planning my boxing class lesson for tonight πŸ₯ŠπŸ₯Š

It's ok to not follow the "norm" it's ok to do what makes you happy because when you feel content you eat better, sleep better and you want to look after yourself

So whatever you decide to do today be happy with your choices 🫢🩷πŸ’ͺ🩷🫢

Tonight I delivered my first somatic pilates session and it was amazing!!!

Seeing the look of total relaxation on my girls faces at the end makes everything worthwhile πŸ§˜πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Tonights workout was designed to push their bodies before taking them into total relaxation 🩷

For the past 16 weeks I have been introducing various techniques into my workouts to get them ready for somatic stretching as this focuses on the internal experience and how the body feels as opposed to how it looks 🩷 not everyone is able to slow down and relax but by being present and aware of what is happening in the moment and connecting with your body on a deeper level allows you to release stress, anxiety, tension, and trauma
