Linlithgow Rose 2 - 6 Coatbridge FC CSFA League Division B

Great result for the boys today, a tough game made more difficult with the conditions in the first half.

Went behind twice in 1st half and responded well with goals from Josh and Tommy getting us back level. Finished the half strongly and took a deserved lead through the returning George.

2nd half with the weather improved, the boys started quickly and extended their lead through Noah. George then gets his 2nd of the game not long after and Tommy finishes off a dominant 2nd half from the boys.

Made a great start to the season and hopefully be able to keep it going.

Heston win 4-3 on penalties

We welcomed Heston today for a Scottish Cup game. This was our biggest test to date as Heston are a league above us

It turned out to be a belter of a game. We were 2 nil up and Heston battled back to take it to penalties. And like always, penalty deciders are a lottery and Heston came out on top

Brilliant cup game and a good example of competitive grassroots football.

Thanks to Heston for the game and all the best in the cup!

Man of the match goes to Adam for his amazing display in goal. Some of the saves he pulled off today we're out of this world

⚽️ IT’S KIDS’ FOOTBALL. LET’S NOT FORGET THAT. ⚽️

Many of you will have seen the recent reports from grassroots football in Central Scotland, where unacceptable behaviour resulted in football being cancelled for hundreds of children.

Adults arguing. Abuse towards officials. Threats. Fighting. Games being abandoned.

All surrounding KIDS’ football.

It should never get to that point.

Football is competitive. We all want our team to do well. Coaches care. Parents care. Players care.

But there has to be a line.

👉 A referee making a mistake doesn’t give anyone the right to abuse them.

👉 A child making a mistake doesn’t need an adult shouting at them from the sideline.

👉 An opposition player is somebody else’s child.

👉 An opposition coach is probably a volunteer giving up their own time.

👉 Winning a kids’ football match is NEVER more important than the example we set.

As coaches, we need to control our behaviour.

As parents, we need to control our behaviour.

And as coaches and parents, we then have every right to expect good behaviour from our players.

The kids are watching everything we do.

They see how we react to decisions.

They hear what we shout from the sidelines.

They see how we treat referees and opposition teams.

And they learn from it.

Of course we want to develop good footballers.

But we should be trying to develop good young people too.

At the end of a game, the most important question shouldn’t always be:

“Did you win?”

Sometimes it should simply be:

“Did you enjoy it?”

Grassroots football needs passion.

It needs competition.

But it also needs RESPECT.

👏 Encourage them.
⚽ Let the coaches coach.
🟨 Let the referee referee.
🤝 Respect the opposition.
❤️ Let the kids play.

Because when adult behaviour results in children not being allowed to play football, we’ve completely lost sight of what grassroots football is supposed to be about.

Coatbridge FC 2012 3–3 EDFC Utd 2912

What a performance from the boys today! They showed tremendous effort, determination and quality to fight back from 2–0 down and get back to 2-2, then to go behind and fight back to 3-3 was brilliant.

The boys carried out the game plan brilliantly, showing great discipline and understanding throughout. The goalkeepers made some very important saves, the defence put in an excellent shift with some crucial blocks, the midfield worked tirelessly at both ends of the pitch, and the strikers worked extremely hard out of possession to give the team a platform.

On another day, we could have gone on to find a winner, but the character shown to dig deep and secure the point was fantastic. Following the result against EDFC last time, the response from the boys today was excellent.

It was a tough decision choosing a Man of the Match, as all 14 players gave everything for the team. However, the referee's MOTM was Noah👏

Noah was outstanding, giving his all throughout the game, showing real quality on the ball and continuing to push after an unlucky first-half effort hit the bar. He kept going and scored an excellent equaliser which ultimately secured the point for the team. Well done, Noah! 👏

A fantastic team performance and another sign that this excellent start to the season is no fluke. The boys should be extremely proud of their efforts so far! 👏

CHALLENGE CUP GROUP 2 WINNERS

An absolute dominant display from the 2014 Whites today saw them secure top spot in the group.

Top performances from the full squad today saw us run away deserved winners.

Mason gets man of the match today for his powerful graft and fight. 4 goals from our centre mid today!! Cracking display.

But all the boys can be proud of how they have performed in the Challenge Cup. The hard work and dedication they have put in is definitely paying off!!

All the boys got a well deserved McDonalds treat from the coaches!!

Well done boys. Let's take it right into the semis!
