💛💚 MATCH REPORT: Fireflies vs Belgrave Robins 💚💛

Sunday's game against Belgrave Robins was a tough one, made even tougher by the heat and humidity in the sports hall.

The result didn't go our way, but there were lots of positives to take from the game. For much of the first half we were neck and neck, matching Belgrave goal for goal and showing just how much this team is growing.

There were some fantastic interceptions across the court, strong passages of play through centre court, and plenty of patient build-up using support options. For a squad still learning to play together, the teamwork and communication were really encouraging.

🏅 MVP, as voted by Belgrave Robins, went to Shelby for her relentless defensive pressure, brilliant interceptions, and tireless work rate.

💛 Players' Player was a tie between:

✨ Sarah – for her incredible court coverage and determination to challenge every ball.

✨ Chloe – for some fantastic long-range shooting, strong holding play against tough defenders, and keeping a smile on her face throughout.

Well done team! There was a relentless workrate from every single player on court. Every week this squad is learning more about each other and growing stronger.

💛💚 MATCH REPORT: Fireflies vs Grace Dieu Gold 💚💛

A tough game for us yesterday against a very strong Grace Dieu Gold side, whose shooters were incredibly accurate from range and really tested our defence throughout the match.

The scoreline didn’t go our way in the end, but there were so many positives to take from this game, especially considering this was the first time many of this group had played together.

There were some brilliant interceptions all over the court, strong passing, calm play in possession, and some fantastic teamwork developing already. Our flow through court looked really promising at times, and the sideline support and encouragement made a huge difference too 👏

Defensively, we worked hard to disrupt play with some great stage 1 and 2 defending, tips and turnovers. In attack, there was some smart movement and excellent communication as players worked to find space and create opportunities.

As with any new combination of players, there are areas to work on, but the connectivity and understanding will only grow from here.

🏅 Opposition MVP went to Ciaran for tireless work through court and in the D.

💛 Players’ Player was a three-way tie this week:

✨ Chloe for brilliant movement, strong rebounding, and cracking shots in the circle
✨ Alison for excellent spacing, positioning, and constant communication
✨ Nic for creating space, tips and interceptions while driving the ball down court as captain

A really encouraging first outing together with loads to build on. We go again in two weeks 💪

The Green Fireflies faced Belgrave Robins in their final match of the winter season today, closing things out with a spirited performance 🏐✨

A huge congratulations to Ali, voted MVP by the opposition 👏 Recognised for her positivity on court, she kept the team energised throughout with constant encouragement and motivation.

And from MVP last match to being voted Players' Player this match - a big shout-out to Robyn for keeping the flow of the game steady, providing a solid link between defence and attack and giving the team a strong foundation throughout 🔥

It was a great team effort across the court with players stepping up in all areas, showing the teamwork and determination that’s defined the season 💪 So it only feels right to recognize everyone else on court today…

💚 A special mention to team captain Charlotte, who expertly managed tactical changes in the second half - showcasing her knowledge across all thirds of the court and leading the team with confidence.

💚 Emma made some beautiful interceptions at GK, reading the play brilliantly and winning back possession for the Fireflies time and time again.

💚 Shelby's energy and tenacity certainly didn’t go unnoticed, working tirelessly with the mid-court players to maintain possession and keep the game moving.

💚 Louise shone on court today across multiple positions, proving key skills in adaptability, resilience and determination - a true team-player!

💚 Chloe kept her cool as GA-GS, moving well around the D especially to switch up positioning and take confident shots.

Today was a fantastic way to round off the season, full of teamwork, resilience and support for one another 🥰 Go girls, here's to Summer League next 🙌

Team Yellow wrapped up their season with a bright and early match vs Sence Valley yesterday 🏐✨

It was a fantastic team performance all round, with strong defensive work and great communication keeping the pressure on throughout.

Huge congratulations to Sarah, voted MVP by the opposition 👏 An outstanding performance in defence with some brilliant interceptions, backed up by clear and constant communication.

Players' Player votes were spread across the team this week, demonstrating how hard everyone pushed for the last match of the season…

💛 A special mention goes to Liv and Emma in the circle, who worked brilliantly together in their first game as a shooting partnership - a great connection!

💛 Sonia continued to keep momentum and energy high throughout the hour, making space and creating good passes around the D.

💛 It was great to have Lisa back on court, bringing her experience and composure to help keep the game flowing smoothly.

💛 Lily and Kirsty were great in defence - both got some good interceptions, rebounds and defended brilliantly.

A proud finish to the season, built on teamwork, support and everyone playing their part 💪💪 Well done Team Yellow!

Team Green took to the court yesterday for their penultimate game of the season, facing Gracedieu Gems in an early match 🏐✨

It was a great game against a lovely team, with some fantastic, well-thought-out passing on display across the court - really showing how far we’ve come as a squad.

A huge well done to Robyn for receiving MVP for the second week running 👑 Her centre play was outstanding, linking defence to attack seamlessly and keeping the momentum flowing throughout the whole game.

This week’s Player’s Player was a joint award, going to Shelby and Ali 👏

💚 Shelby - incredible interceptions and such a strong ability to read the game, disrupting play time and time again.

💚 Ali - your communication on court made such a difference, keeping the team connected and working as one.

One more to go… time to put all our hard work from training into action and finish the season strong. We’re ready and excited for our final match of the season vs Belgrave Robins 💪

Yesterday was a fantastic day of netball as both Fireflies teams (Green and Yellow) took on both Grace Dieu teams (Pearls and Gems) 🏐✨

With both squads showing great determination, the matches were full of energy, teamwork and moments of brilliance across the court. It’s been incredible to see how everyone continue to grow, building confidence and trying new combinations as the season progresses 💪

A huge shoutout to our Centres, Sonia and Robyn, who were both voted MVP by the oppositions 👏 Their control through mid-court was outstanding - seamlessly switching from attack to defence, keeping the game flowing and linking play from end to end.

Players’ Player nominations go to…

💚 Emma - Huge kudos for coming back from injury with such energy and enthusiasm for the game. Strong passes, communication and attacking mode activated 💪

💛 Sonia - The Yellow team agreed with GraceDieu, voting our pocket rocket Centre and yesterday's Team Captain as lady of the match. Sonia led the team brilliantly, with smart use of space and constant encouragement for the team 🙌

There is so much to be proud of across both teams - the adaptability, teamwork and support for one another really shining through 🫶

We’re now looking ahead to the final month of the season, ready to keep building and finishing strong!
