Chandlers FC enters a new chapter in the Division Two of the GDSFC

Big news alert!

After 10 wonderful years as an independent charity football league, the Glasgow Community & Co-operative League is delighted to announce that we have agreed to amalgamate with the Glasgow & District Sunday Football Championship for the 2025/26 season onwards.

This was not an easy decision - we are incredibly proud of the achievements of the GCCL, in not only offering a safe and tolerant space for football, but also in raising money for and awareness of good causes. However, with changing footballing habits, it has become harder year on year to consistently deliver the sort of competition we want and to ensure that new teams entering the league commit to our founding principles and ethos.

For that reason, it was decided that the best course of action was amalgamation with the GDSFC, a well-established and incredibly successful Sunday league which is fully affiliated to the SFA and SAFA. We believe that being part of this larger organisation will best serve the interests of our clubs going forward, and look forward to working with our friends at the GDSFC who have had remarkable growth themselves over the last decade.

For some teams, it will even be a return to familiar surroundings, with some GCCL teams having been GDSFC members for many years in the past.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the GCCL's successes over the last decade, from sponsors to fans, volunteers of course, all the wonderful players who made it all possible. We hope that the league's founding ethos of community, co-operation, openness and non-violence can follow our teams into the new setup.

We had a good run of it...now it's time to get excited for the next chapter!

Not long now

We have an exciting weekend ahead of us in the Glasgow Community & Co-operative League as we hand out the first trophies of the season with our winter cup finals day this Sunday (8th December)!

We have two brilliant cup finals for you to enjoy - both are taking place at New Tinto Park, Craigton Road 282, Glasgow G51 4XG - the home of Benburb FC.

Our second match of the day is the League Cup Final, which will be contested between Chandlers Sundays FC and Caledonian Spartans FC. Kick off is at 4pm for this one.

This is a heavyweight match up between two of the strongest sides in the GCCL, with the Cally Spartans currently leading the way at the top of the GCCL table. Chandlers are not far behind, tucked away in 3rd and hoping a strong second half of the season can see them catch their rivals. Both will fancy their chances of lifting the League Cup, a signal of intent as well as a brilliant achievement in its own right.

Free entry, 4pm kick off - come join us for a brilliant game of football.

Chandlers are back to winning ways in the league with a scrappy 3-2 win over Paisley Saints. Paisley pushed us hard but a deserved win in the end. Another tactical masterclass in the second half seen Baker sub off Baker at 2 each before the boys pushed for our 3rd.
Goals: Steph x2, Ross

Chandlers progress into the final of the GCCL Cup. AC Kelvingrove gave us a tough game as per. Ultimately it was a wonder strike from Steph, into the top pokie! and a late winner from Connor Wilson that seen us through in the end. A really tough game with only 11 players showing up on the day! Viva La Chanos 💛🖤

Dennistoun Saints 1 - 4 Chandlers Sundays

A great 3 points secured against a hard to beat Dennies team. The game was close until Baker came on and put it out of sight with an assist and a goal. When he says he’s going to deliver it turns out he delivers.

Goals: Ross, John, Steph, Ben
MOTM: Connor Wilson

Chandlers 3 - 0 Glasgow Thistle

The first half was end to end and finished 0-0. It wasn’t until the second half Chandlers managed to control the game and show our quality. Craig Walker scored a free kick that Man City’s Ederson wouldn’t have saved and Baker hot dogged the keeper to make it 2-0. In the final few minutes Darren Reid took it out of sight with a good header at the back stick after hanging in the air for 5 minutes. 3 points and job done.
