What a two years it's been! 🙌

Heshan Dhanushka heads home to Sri Lanka after another outstanding season with us — and the numbers speak for themselves:

🏏 2,004 RUNS
🎯 119 WICKETS
⭐ 2nd highest run-scorer in the league this season (missing top spot by a whisker!)

In just two seasons as our Club Professional, Heshan has produced moments we'll be talking about for years. To say we've been honoured to have him is an understatement — his talent, professionalism and character have been second to none. 💙

Safe travels home, Heshan — look after yourself and your family, and enjoy some well-earned rest! ✈️🇱🇰

We are THRILLED to announce that Heshan will be returning for his THIRD season at the club! 🔥 As he looks to push himself and the team further forward, we can't wait to see what next summer brings.

🏠 1st Team — NWCL Championship
We host Cherry Tree at Church Meadow as we look to finish the season in style with back-to-back wins. The lads have worked hard all year — let's get behind them one last time!

🚌 2nd Team — NWCL Conference Premiership
The 2nds make the trip to Little Lever knowing that just 1 point is enough to secure their survival. Every run, every wicket, every catch matters today. Let's get the job done!

💙 A Farewell to a Legend
Today also marks Ian Britcliffe's final 1st team appearance as he looks forward to a thoroughly well-deserved retirement. Ian has given so much to this club over the years, and we'd love to see as many faces as possible at Church Meadow to give him the send-off he deserves. 👏

💙 ONE OF OUR OWN, ONE OF THE GREATS: THANK YOU, IAN 💙

This Saturday marks the final game of the 2026 season — a year of mixed fortunes for the 1st team, who will be desperate to finish with a win.

But this Saturday means so much more than just the last fixture.

For one man, it will be his last ever game for the 1st team. A man who first walked through our gates in 1980 as a 10-year-old boy. A man who has given this club 46 seasons of unwavering devotion.

That man is IAN BRITCLIFFE. A true Ribblesdale Wanderers legend. 💙

In 46 seasons, we believe he missed just ONE game — his daughter's wedding. That says everything.

He has played for every senior side, captained both the 1st and 2nd teams, and served as club treasurer for over a decade. The quiet, steady heartbeat of this club.

And the honours? He's won the Ramsbottom Cup three times — and was captain for the first one. He also lifted the T20 Cup, in a final where he defended just 2 runs in the final over. Some say he was bowling in the dark. 🌙🏏

And the numbers? Bear in mind play-cricket only started in 1997, so many of his best years aren't even recorded. What we know is astonishing:

🎯 1,246 wickets
🎯 5,561.5 overs
🎯 1,095 maidens
🎯 68 five-wicket hauls
🎯 Best figures: 8-35

🏏 321 innings — a steady tailender who could hold up an end when it mattered!
🏏 106 not-outs
🏏 Top score: 39 vs Whalley

We'll never know his true numbers — but even these are simply remarkable.

So as Ian takes the field at Church Meadow one final time with the 1st team, we hope he savours every second. He has given this club everything — and he deserves to know just how much he means to us all.

It all comes down to this! With just TWO games left in the season, our lads are hungry for every single point.

🏏 1st XI (Away)

The boys are on the road to Oswaldtwistle Immanuel in the NWCL Championship. In the search for another 12 points, two games left the team want to finish with two victories!

🏏 2nd XI (Home)

It’s the FINAL home game of the season at Church Meadow! The 2nds host Read CC knowing that victory seals their survival in the NWCL Conference Premiership. What a turnaround it has been in the second half of the season!

🏏 Important Update: Sunday’s Big Bash Cancelled 🏏

After careful consideration, the cricket committee has made the difficult decision to cancel this Sunday’s Big Bash. With the recent heavy rainfall and more wet weather forecast over the weekend, we believe this is the safest and fairest call for everyone involved.

We know how much this event means to our club and community, and we share your disappointment. Please know this decision wasn’t taken lightly – but player safety and ground conditions must come first.

A huge thank you to our dedicated cricket committee and junior committee members for all the hard work, planning, and passion you’ve poured into making this event what it was set to be. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed.

But don’t worry – the Big Bash will be back in 2027, bigger, bolder, and better than ever! 🌟

🏏What a brilliant Friday we have lined up for you at Church Meadow!🏏

It’s a jam-packed evening for all ages:
👦 Junior Training (6:15pm) – A fantastic session run by the brilliant Bobby Denning. Perfect for getting the kids active and having fun!

🥂 Refreshments (From 5:30pm) – The bar is open early! Quench your thirst with our famous cold pints, or treat yourself as we’re thrilled to now offer w**e by the bottle – ideal for sharing with friends.

📺 Live Football (8pm) – Settle in after training as we screen the big Premier League opener: Arsenal vs Coventry in the clubhouse.

Come for the sport, stay for the atmosphere. We can't wait to see everyone there!

🎯 WEEKEND FIXTURES – TIME TO BOUNCE BACK! 🏏

After two tough league defeats, our 1st Team are back on home soil at Church Meadow this Saturday, hosting Atherton in the NWCL Championship. The lads are hungry, determined, and ready to turn that form around in front of our home crowd – your support could be the 12th man we need! 💪

Meanwhile, our 2nd Team are on the road with a serious point to prove. Fresh off a brilliant victory last week, they travel to league leaders Walkden in the NWCL Conference Premier. Confidence is high, momentum is building, and they’ll be looking to pull off another upset as they fight tooth and nail to climb the table. 🚀
