✨ Consistency beats perfection – small steps add up!
✅ Week 1 of the New Year – Check-In Time!
How are you doing so far? What’s gone well for you? What’s been a challenge? Drop your thoughts below 👇
Here’s my honest review of my Week 1:
✔️ Meals planned (and they’ve been meals I actually enjoy from the Pinch of Nom books – not a single salad in sight because that wouldn’t be sustainable for me!)
✔️ Calories logged (using MyFitnessPal)
✔️ Alcohol cut (and I’ve found mocktails are a fun new activity!)
✔️ Back to good habits: planning tomorrow today, using a to-do list, and focusing on what really matters. This helps me feel more in control at work and align my efforts and energy to value-add activities rather than being a “busy fool.”
Cupboards at home? Fully stocked and organised (I now own 6 different vinegars 😂). Loads of spices and herbs ready to go, and I’ve bought and frozen meat for the month—taking away the excuses for not cooking fresh!
On the movement side, I’ve started adding steady kettlebell exercises at home – just a few minutes here and there, not an hour at a time and then nothing for days. Small, consistent steps!
💡 Quick insight on habits:
To build a new habit, you often have to unfreeze the old habit, reshape it, and then refreeze the new one. For example, I used to grab a meal deal or a bag of chips for lunch because it was quick and easy. To change that, I “unfroze” the old pattern by stopping those impulse buys, reshaped it by making sure I have the right things at home—better bread choices, less processed food, hummus and healthy snacks—and then “refroze” the new habit by planning and prepping my own lunches. Now, eating better feels natural and sustainable!
Your turn:
👉 What’s working for you so far?
👉 What’s been tough?
👉 What’s one thing you’re proud of this week?
Let’s keep each other accountable and make Week 2 even better! 💪
If this resonates with you, don’t forget to like and share!

New year, new me? No thanks. ✋✨

2026 is the year of consistency — small, sustainable shifts that actually stick, not dramatic reinventions.
Because honestly… I actually like who I am. 😌

This year I’m showing up better for the people who matter 🤝 — with time, attention, and presence, not grand gestures.

And I’m looking after my body and mind in a straightforward, practical way: better routines, better boundaries, and choices that support the life I’m building, not drain it 💪.

My focus isn’t to “fix everything” by the end of January — it’s to be where I want to be by the end of 2026. Slow, steady, intentional progress beats the usual January sprint every time.

I’m choosing habits that make sense long-term. Steady improvements, realistic commitments, and decisions that make my days feel clearer, calmer, and more aligned with who I already am.

I’m keeping close the people who bring ease, laughter, and depth — and letting go of anything that pulls me off‑centre. 2026 is about clarity, connection, and showing up with intention.

And whatever you choose to do in 2026, remember this: the year is longer than January. Pace yourself. Prioritise you. Bring back the things that made you happy as a kid — curiosity, play, joy, silliness. Be more childlike, not childish. Let that energy carry you through the whole year. 🌟

Here’s to a steady, meaningful 2026. 🥂
Not a new me — just a more consistent, grounded version of the one I already like.

✨ Why do I post “slushy” stuff? Because I’m grateful.
Grateful for what I have, for where I am, for the peace, support, love, fun, and fresh appreciation for life that surrounds me.

Distractions, bitterness, and negativity will always try to pull us down—but I refuse to let them win. The small problems don’t get to steal the joy of the bigger picture.

I choose gratitude. I choose love. I choose life. 🌱💫

🚉 Wrong train? Get off early.
I didn’t.
I stayed on a toxic train for too long — not because it felt safe or noble, but because of who else was on board. I thought staying was the way to protect them. To hold the line. To shield them from the storm.

But the storm was never going to clear.
And I realised: staying wasn’t protecting them anymore.
Leaving was.

This train analogy doesn’t just apply to relationships. It shows up in other parts of life too:

- In health, every stop in the wrong direction is a stop further from where you want to be. The longer you ignore the signs — the stress, the fatigue, the quiet warnings — the harder and costlier the return. Prevention is kinder than repair.
- In work, chasing money or status while ignoring your values and beliefs will never lead to fulfilment. You have to build something that reflects who you are — something that feels honest, aligned, and true. That’s where real satisfaction begins.

The first stop might be messy. And the stop I got off at is messy.
There are challenges ahead — no doubt about that.
But the goal remains the same: to protect, and to help someone I love grow into a beautiful, fulfilled person who understands love and normality.
That will never change.

It’s not about defending or justifying the crap others project onto you.
It’s about choosing clarity over chaos, alignment over approval.
It’s the moment you stop drifting.
The moment you choose your own values, your own direction.
The moment you begin to build a life that feels like yours — in your health, your work, your relationships, and your sense of self.

14 months since my last post — time for a proper update.

I walked away from a marriage that had become toxic, and into something I didn’t know was possible: a relationship filled with peace, laughter, and love. Where there was once chaos, there’s now calm. They say who you choose to share your life with is the most important decision you’ll ever make — and having lived both sides, I can say that’s absolutely true.

Work’s in a good place.
I’ve been in my current role for nearly two years now — a role where I feel I can grow, contribute, and help others do the same. Coaching remains a passion, and I love seeing people develop and thrive.

Health-wise, I’m on the up.
Lowest weight in a long time this morning. It’s been a slow and imperfect journey, but I’m eating better and rediscovering the joy of long bike rides and walks in the Peaks. Having the right person to share those moments with makes all the difference.

Coaching — Light the Fuse.
What’s next? Honestly, nothing specific right now. I just wanted to share where I’m at. After completing a Mental Health First Aider course and reflecting on my coaching journey, one thing stands out: we need more meaningful conversations.

So that’s my focus for now — creating space for real, kind, non-judgemental conversations. Whether it’s about mental health, performance, coaching, or just everyday life, the theme is the same: giving people time, space, and safety. That’s what we need more of.

REFLECTION - Long Post!

Having not posted for 3 weeks and now having had this page for nearly 4 months it feels like a good time to reflect.

When thinking about this year so far:

I've embraced a new role at work, out of my comfort zone and about to have my third boss in 8 short months - I enjoy the role, more formal learning to come, which I always enjoy - so at the moment this feels exciting!

I've finally bought a campervan, after years of wanting one, I've bought one! Currently away in the van and I love it!

I've completed two 10K runs and signed up for a third, in 2024 I will have completed more 10Ks than the rest of my life combined!! And I'm proud of this - they ain't quick, they ain't easy, but I'm determined to keep going and improve.

I've realised life really can be a tw@t , it can be unfair and hard - you can't control everything, however you can control your response.

I've not given up on my health journey - it's as inconsistent as ever, however currently it feels like it's on the right track, blood pressure, cholesterol and resting heart rate all positive signs to support that - this will always be a priority and has moved up the list to be a better role model to my daughter.

And then there is Light the Fuse Coaching - I launched this page with the goal of coaching 1 person this year outside of my organisation, but honestly I feel no closer to achieving that goal and here is why:
1) I haven't defined my "offering"
2) I haven't given this goal the time or focus required
3) I went about this page all wrong, my goal wasn't to create content and what I have created/posted hasn't been aligned to the original goal
4) I've realised I have a capacity for change - trying to change too much at once is simply ineffective and leads to little being done

So what's the plan? I don't know, but for now my intention is to simplify, focus on fewer things and do them better - for example, diet and exercise, rather than half arsing them both, my focus is diet - that doesn't mean I won't exercise, but I'm not at this moment in time trying to make massive changes in that area.
Work & Coaching - my focus is going to be on my work, learning more about my new role, getting accredited in Change Management and doing what I can to support my team and enable them to do their roles to the best of their ability - through coaching!
This doesn't mean the end for Light the Fuse Coaching - it simply means right now I intend doing less things, but better and will continue to think, reflect, define what it is I actually want to do around coaching (my offering) and then redefine my approach!
