The decision has been made to become and this means parting ways with . We would like to give the biggest of thankyous to everyone at the pub, for everything they have helped us with. It’s been greatly appreciated! Lots of memories, pints and great scran! UTG💎

‼️SEMI FINAL‼️

The boys face Winns to get themselves to the Final of the Chairman’s Invitational Cup. Big opportunity for The Gem to come away with some silverware after many years together.

With it potentially being the last game as The Hidden Gem FC, the lads are wanting to really push to be in that final. Come down to support the boys at Greenlands on Sunday morning!

The Gem progress to the Semi Final‼️

An utterly brilliant effort from the lads, everyone giving 100%. Couldn’t have asked for any more. The boys played some really good football and largely dominated most of the game. There were chances for both sides, and both should have put away a few more.

At 1-0 down, some good defensive work from saw .reeve_ progress up the pitch with the ball. A tidy ball inside to and a blocked shot gave RV all the room he needed to take a second shot at the opposition goalkeeper who couldn’t stay behind the flight of the ball to make it level.

After another goal from Seas, the boys kept their head up high and kept working hard to get back into the game. After a rough patch of dodgy passes and scary play around our own box, big .wood.182 played a perfectly executed ball over the top of the opposition backline, matching the deep run from who kept his cool and slotted past the keeper again with the outside of his right boot.

At 2-2, there was still work to be done. coming up with some outstanding saves. The defensive line keeping tight and covering one another. The midfield three maintaining possession and dropping deeper to cover when defending. And the work rate from was unbelievable from the minute he came on, deserved a goal. The wingers of and .reeve32 kept pushing and looking to get past their fullbacks and getting balls into the box or get a shot off.

Full time saw the game go to penalties, in which shined yet again. The 💎 coming away 6-5 victors, and a lovely moment for .james.ethan._ who had a little dance when he scored the winning penalty.

Man of the match goes to and here’s what the caretaker gaffer had to say -

‘Harvey managed to dig us out of trouble twice with two great goals to level the game after us sneaking behind, a masterclass in midfield, great work for a man with such a tiny body.’

Not sure if he meant tiny body or not but we’ll have to agree to disagree on that one.

‼️ QUARTER FINAL ‼️

The boys face Seven Seas on Sunday. Last time out, Seven Seas came out on top in the cup, leaving with a 5-4 win. So The Gem are out for revenge this time around.

Sunday the 13th at Clee Fields 4G pitches, come along and support the boys!!💎

What a performance.

The Gem come away with a 6-4 win. With the lads pulling names out of a hat, and same again for the second half. The 💎 #1 starting as a CAM and then finding himself in the middle of the back line at centre half for the second half. The man with the most ever appearances for the Gem found himself on the RW all game, and after 62 appearances for The Gem he finally got his first goal.

There were a few notable moments from the game. Mike Reed managed to get nutmegged 3 times in 5 minutes. Pod channeling his inner Bafetimbi Gomis by celebrating his goal by doing the ‘black panther’. and .reeve32 doing just about a half each in goal, which saw Tyler Smith pull off a great save by the way! Harrison ended up head butting the post attempting to save what was a brilliant header from Keelby’s biggest player, but fair play to those two lads! getting a brilliant assist!

Here’s what the gaffer had to say -
‘What a day to be a gem starting with a couple of bits of history, Michael Sarbutt getting his first ever goal for the club on another day you could’ve had 3 well done and with that win it means this season will be our highest points tally since we formed.
Todays game for me showed exactly what this club is about, playing in different positions, laughing and joking, helping others to try get goals and still winning the match.
All players getting plenty of minutes over the past month is starting to show in the way that everyone seems comfortable on the pitch and our understanding of each other.
Hopefully a lot still to play for in the cup and some silverware.
Joint MOTM today Harvey Blades man mountain at the back and some cheeky megs, Stevie Gordon getting 3 assists and a goal unreal fella.

Fair play to the Keelby lads who at times might have had only 10, potentially 9 men on the pitch at points. They put up with a lot of what seemed like p**s taking and sh*te celebrations, so well done to them!

As promised, the lads have picked positions out of that and there’s some interesting positions on show. in goal, maybe the smallest gem player. with an opportunity outfield at CAM, and the admins favourite rolling back the years at right wing.

The 💎 come away with a 5-0 win!! Moving onto the next round of the cup.

A comfortable win in the end. Strong defensive performance, and in the final third. The lads went ahead early on through and then settled into the game. The next goal came just before half time, with a free kick from 😮‍💨

In the second half, the boys kept it tight still and managed to get a couple more goals to kill the game. .reeve_ and getting his second of the game, and then on his return to the fold managed to bag in the latter stages🙌🏻

It seemed as though the boys had another gear to go into throughout the game which is positive. Work rate across the pitch from the 💎 players was excellent to see!

Here’s what the gaffer had to say:

‘Another great result yesterday and onto the next round, again a game where I believe we had another gear if needed.
The workrate from everyone yet again was incredible, the togetherness looks to have come back aswell.
I’m sure Lee Martin will back me up on this but last few games have been a pleasure to watch, and loving the gametime everyone is getting.
We do have tougher tests to come and would be great to get one over on Keelby.
MOTM was Sarbutt never looked in danger at the back, talking was exactly what we needed and strong in every challenge.
Special mention to the front line who never gave them a second to think.
