This weekend we have 2 cricket games in the league but it is also the Sportathon weekend at the club. Lots of sport happening over the whole weekend, come down and join the fun. More info on the Cleckheaton Sports Club page.

Cleckheaton 1XI vs Farsley 1XI

What a game for Cleck on Saturday. Farsley won the toss and elected to bowl at their home ground, which turned out to be a costly decision. Cleck piled on the runs in the first innings, scoring a whopping 403/8 off their 50 overs. Josh Sullivan with a brilliant 157 off 112 including 14 4s and 8 6s. He batted incredibly alongside overseas Muhammad Ammar, who scored an excellent run a ball 80. A quick fire 42 from Khizer Qadeer helped cleck reach a massive 403 for 8. In response, Farsley looked down and out from the beginning as they barely even made 100 in their reply. 104 all out, wickets spread pretty evenly, 3 for Jack Luxton, 3 for Khizer Qadeer, 2 for Josh Sullivan and 1 for Lachlan Doidge. A massive 299 run victory and a huge 20 points for Cleck.

On Sunday the 3XI took on Batley CC at Moorend. Batley batted first, putting on a respectable 200 all out from 38.5 overs. Pick of the bowlers, Matthew Green and Oliver Chorlton. In reply Cleck would have been confident going into the second innings, however after both openers were dismissed pretty early there hopes were dampened. Eventually they were bowled out for 133, Joe Bray and Oliver Chorlton scoring 28 respectively.

13/06/26 Results:
It was Pudsey St Lawrence away for our 1XI and they opted to have a bowl after winning the toss. Cleck were in a commanding position after having PSL 38-4 courtesy of Khizer Qadeer’s off spin. Yet a fightback from Mark Robertshaw led PSL to a respectable score of 219-7 off their 50 overs. Cleck would have been the happier of the 2 sides at the tea interval. However despite a magnificent 103 from Overseas Muhammad Ammar, Cleck would eventually be bowled out for a very disappointing 201. Falling short of the PSL target by 18 runs.
It was a different story for the 2XI however, as they lost the toss and were put into bat by Hunslet Nelson. A very good performance with the bat from the Cleck batters, plus a stand out innings from Elliot Hallas who scored 72, supported by Craig Blackburn (51) and Oliver Chorlton (33). The team finishing on 237/8 for 8 off their 50 overs.
In return Hunslet Nelson struggled early on, being 35-1 off 15 overs. Some very tight bowling from Jack Stansfield and Matthew Green. Eventually the Cleck bowlers tight overs were rewarded with wickets which fell in clusters. Hunslet Nelson bowled out for 129 in their return meaning a huge victory of 108 runs.
On the Sunday it was the turn of the T20 competition at held at Pudsey St Lawrence between Batley, Cleck and PSL.
It was Batley vs Cleckheaton first up and it was a run feast for the batters. Again it was Khizer Qadeer leading from the front for the Lambs, scoring a mammoth 115 off 47 balls. Including 15 4s and 5 sixes at a strike rate of 244. Supported by Skipper Lachlan Doidge, Cleck put on a very intimidating 214. In return Batley started well, being 82-2 off 8 overs. Well on track with the run rate. Yet the tight bowling of Lachlan Doidge pegged Cleck back into the game. He finished with figures of 4 overs 3 for 14. An excellent display of skill. Batley finishing on 180 meaning Cleck won by 34 runs in the first game.
In the last game of the Day it saw a rematch of the day before between Cleck and PSL. Pudsey chose to bat first on a used wicket, hoping for it to spin in the second innings. They posted a respectable 166 for 6, some excellent fielding and bowling from Cleck. But the second innings was a complete masterclass in T20 batting by Khizer Qadeer, who scored 100 in the game before and now a monstrous, 91 off 34 hitting 18 boundaries at a strike rate of 267. Supported by both Hisan Ahmad and Muhammad Ammar, but the spotlight taken by one of the most inform batters in the league right now, Khizer Qadeer. Cleck chased that 166 in just 12.3 overs. Some ridiculous batting on display.
They are now through to the next round of T20 matches, to take place on Sunday 28th June.
