We are currently waiting on the western shore of Wellington Bay for a set of headwinds to go through and a big blow of about 25-30kn due to hit is on Sunday. Part of the tactics of navigating a rowing boat through the Northwest passage is looking ahead to where you could be if you pressed on and reconciling that with a good anchorage spot for any foul weather to help negate the risks. We could be here for a few days waiting for the wind to come round and then we should be off again and hopefully with a bit of a tail wind make up some time 🤩 For now we sit tight, conserve power, cooking gas and get into the anchrage watch system of 4h on and 4h off which is about right for rest and the cold nights - so not too much action on the tracker at the moment but plenty soon - see the dates on the forecast below 🤩

Boats packed and ready to go - forecast looks ok for tomorrow. Looks like we will get a day of rowing and then tuck in behind some islands for a little wind to pass through then a few days of half decent weather before we have to ticknup again - aiming to stick to the south coast of Victoria Island and with a bit of luck reach Edinburgh Island by the end of next week. With only 4 of us on board progress will be a bit slower but looking forward to the forthcoming challenge. Hope you stay a bit warmer than us 🤩🤩🤩

Last year 2023 we set out to deliver Hermione our ocean rowing boat, named after Leven’s mother who is sadly no longer with us.
We left Eyemouth harbour in South Scotland, then to Orkney in Scotland, Faroes islands, Iceland, Greenland, then to our start destination in Canada 🇨🇦 Pond Inlet.
This was with a small motor on board, it took a long time! Note.. motor was for delivery only and emergency purposes, we also had some help from our friends we made along the way, thank you everyone from Ugly Betty 🌟

The team last year rowed from Pond Inlet to Cambridge Bay, they made it half way through the Northwest Passage.
The expedition wasn’t completed because of bad weather conditions that made it too dangerous to proceed.
Hermione over wintered here.
This year 2024 we are finishing what we started defrosting the boat and equipment, we hope to make it to Alaska to make a world 1st in rowing through this treacherous stretch of water. 🙏
