Thats the may shoot over at the club. Thankfully not as cold and wet as it has been recently and other than one very heavy shower, it wasn't a bad day at all.

The targets were a bit more on the tougher side but there were still some decent scores.

There were 24s for A. Craig, A, Temple, L. McSparron and D. Campbell
27 - R. Canning
28 - S. Temple

But the top three scores today were:-

29 - F. McElhinney & R. Browne
30 - O. Browne
And first with 33 was W. Temple.

Once again, the shoot could not function without the help of the members. Thanks to those that set everything up and stayed on the clear up again. Thanks to everyone that supplied sandwiches and the rest of the items for the tea and most of all Thanks to all those that turned up. We hope to see everyone again for our next monthly shoot on 20th June.

Our April shoot complete on Straid Hill and what a decent day it turned out to be. A few showers this morning but it brightened up in the afternoon was was very pleasant in the sunshine. 😎

Top scores today were as follows:

29 - D. Campbell, A. Thompson and R. Browne
30 - M. Lynch
32 - E. Stewart

But the highest scores today were:

3rd S. Temple 33
Joint 1st W. Temple & L. McSparron on 37

Brilliant shooting everyone on some testing targets. 👏👏👏

Always great to see new faces and today was no exception. Also great to see a great uptake in membership. It is very much appreciated.

As are all those involved in setting up, filling traps and clearing up again. Thanks as always to those who supplied sandwiches and other stuff for tea. Them egg and onion sandwiches are hard to beat. 😋

Another good day of good targets and plenty of craic and banter. Just what shooting should be all about. 🙂

Our next shoot will be on the 16th May.

We will hold a 40 bird sporting competition this coming Saturday 18th April at the club.

A reminder that memberships are now due and can be paid at the club on Saturday. Membership Fee is £25.

The club can also offer insurance through Country Sports Ireland at £28.

A reminder too the our entry fees will increase to £12 for members and £14 for visitors.

The club held its AGM on Wednesday 25th March. A few items to make shooters aware of ahead of our new Season.

Shoot dates:

We intend to keep to the third Saturday of the month for our shoots. Our first shoot of the new season will be a 40 Bird Sporting Competition on Saturday 18th April 2026. We intend to run a few more 50 Bird shoots this year also. Dates will be advertised in due course.

Membership:

Membership fees were agreed at £25 and are now due. These can be paid at the next shoot. Membership is open to anyone wishing to join.

It is proposed that members wishing to join for the first time will pay £35 from next season on, so now is a good time to join the club.

Entry Fees:

Our entry fees to shoot were probably the cheapest around at £10. Unfortunately clays have increased in price significantly since we last changed our fees so we have had to increase our fees too.

The price of a 40 Bird entry for members will increase to £12 from the next shoot. Non-members will be charged £14.

For a 50 Bird Shoot, members will be charged £15 and non-members £17.

We intend to put a lot of work into the ground this year and make a few paths and generally improve the ground for everyone. A few ideas were proposed at the AGM and we hope to implement them during this incoming season.

We hope it is a successful year for the club and hope to see as many people as possible benefitting from it.

We're already looking forward to the new 2026/27 season at the club.

A reminder that our AGM will take place this evening at 7:30pm in the Belfry.

Our AGM will take place this Wednesday, 25th March, at 7:30pm. The meeting will take place at the Belfry Country Inn on the Glenshane Road.

Could as many members as possible please attend.

Memberships will be due for renewal after this date and new members will be more than welcome to join.
