💚⚽️ OUR REASON 💚⚽️
We caught up with Fc Brompton Fountain Gaffer
Aran Yarwood ahead of Sundays clash .
Here’s what he has to say on the game .
A few weeks after my son Jack underwent open-heart surgery to repair an Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), I felt a desire to give something back to the charity connected to the Royal Brompton Hospital. The care, support and reassurance we received during our time there were exceptional, and I wanted to show my appreciation by helping to raise funds for a cause that had directly impacted my family.
I was already aware of the fantastic work being carried out by my old school best friend, Ross, who is Chairman of Tekkers Community FC. While his fundraising efforts are not always linked to registered charities, he has consistently gone above and beyond to support families in need, making a real difference within the community. Knowing the positive impact he and his club have had, I approached Ross to ask whether Tekkers Community FC would consider co-hosting a charity football match and family fun day in support of Brompton Fountain.
Without hesitation, Ross agreed, and I was absolutely delighted. Having previously completed the Colchester Marathon and raised nearly £2,000 for Tiny Tickers, fundraising was already something close to my heart. However, I felt a particular responsibility to support the charity associated with the hospital that had cared for Jack and our family during such a significant period of our lives.
As mentioned earlier, the work Ross has undertaken in recent years is truly admirable. From building strong community relationships to creating opportunities for those in need, his dedication has been instrumental in driving Tekkers Community FC forward. Throughout the planning of this event, he has been fantastic to work with, bringing enthusiasm, valuable connections and a wealth of experience. His ability to engage with local businesses, volunteers and supporters has been a huge asset, and I am incredibly grateful for his support in helping make this event a reality.
