It was another great night of pool last night at Clacton Sports Bar with our classic single elimination competition! The tournament was packed with dramatic comebacks, tense deciders, and high-quality play from start to finish as players battled it out in the knockout format.

In the semi-finals, David Finch secured his spot in the final with a strong 5-2 victory over George Louca. Meanwhile, Ray Bennett fought his way through a total nail-biter on the adjacent table, securing his final spot by defeating Glenn Sibbons 5-4 in a thrilling deciding frame (hats off the Glenn for reaching the semi finals with a -2 handicap).

The final brought together two of the night's most consistent performers, David Finch and Ray Bennett, in a fantastic showcase of skill and nerve.

Both players left everything at the table, but it was Ray Bennett who hit peak form when it mattered most, capturing a brilliant 3-1 victory to claim the title and the first prize of £90. Congratulations to Ray on a well-deserved win, and a shoutout to David for an incredible run to the final, taking home £45 for his efforts.

Snooker Singles Cup: The Grand Final is set!

The tournament started with a full field of snooker league players competing in this season's free cup competition. After several rounds of competitive frames at the Clacton Sports Bar, we are now down to the final two.

The earlier rounds produced plenty of close matches, setting up a strong line-up for the quarter finals. In the quarters, Sam King won a close battle against Keith Percival 3-2, while Lee Grant progressed with a 3-1 win over Glenn Sibbons. In the other half of the draw, Terry Howard defeated Keith Wilson 3-1, and Lee Adams secured his spot with a 3-1 victory against Peter Clachan.

The semi finals saw both of our finalists put in very strong performances to book their places in the final without dropping a frame: Sam King defeated Lee Grant 3-0 and Terry Howard won his match against Lee Adams 3-0.

The tournament concludes with a Best of 5 match between Sam King and Terry Howard.

The handicap setup should make for an interesting tactical match. Sam carries a +28 advantage into each frame, meaning Terry will need to put together some consistent visits to close the gap. Both players have looked in excellent form to reach this stage, and it promises to be a great match.

Best of luck to both Sam and Terry in the final.

Last night at Clacton Sports Bar, the baize was busy for our latest Cross Pairs competition, a unique doubles format where teammates are drawn at random. The evening delivered high-quality pool and plenty of drama as the field was whittled down to the semis.

The semifinals set a high bar for the evening, starting with Tom Chivers and Courtney Simmons securing their place in the final after a 4-2 victory over Danny Walker and Dean Craig. On the other side of the draw, Luke Looker and Simon Eccles matched that 4-2 scoreline in their win against Scott Elsdon and Callum Myhill to set up a heavyweight title clash.

The final lived up to every bit of the hype, evolving into a back-and-forth battle that pushed both teams to their limits until it all came down to a tense deciding frame. In the end, Tom Chivers and Courtney Simmons held their nerve to clear the table, clinching the win and the title over Looker and Eccles.

Next Sunday sees the return of the Double Eliminator makes at 6pm. Entry is £10, so make sure you're there early to get your name in the hat.
