takes up the story of events that lead to him banking the biggest carp in the lake at just over 43lb.
"The session started with a lovely mid-20 common from a different peg, which was a cracking fish. After that, things went quiet, so I stayed up late watching and listening for signs of fish elsewhere. Eventually, I heard them showing a fair way away and didn’t hesitate, packed down and made the move.
In the early hours, I saw the big ’un show, so moved again and put myself right on her. I went in with a light spread of 12mm Atlantic Heat boilies, then placed a rod over the top with a 12mm Secret Squirrel hookbait.
The next morning, the rod absolutely melted off with a screamer of a take. After an epic battle, she was finally in the net, a big common known as Swirly. Moments like this are exactly why we do it. The late nights, the listening, the moving, the graft, and trusting your gut when it matters"
Well done Josh, great angling mate!
