Great couple days Lifeguard Training this week both beach and open water guards.
This month’s training topic is based around scenarios, identification, rescue, treatment and hand over. Putting together knowledge learned over the spring summer period into scenarios they haven’t had prior knowledge of. Great fun, has proven results with a real life injury and rescue performed this week identical to one of the scenarios by two of the guards who performed it in training only days earlier, they reported they felt confident, knew exactly what they were doing and how to treat the casualty appropriately and performed a good hand over to EMS.
Goes to show how you fall back on your last good training session and how positive these scenarios can be.
We wrote the scenarios based on sound knowledge of how incidents can happen, the mechanisms of injury, techniques drilled from proven rescue methods and first aid knowledge.
And wall to wall sunshine to boot!
