North Lanarkshire Institute of Karate The North Lanarkshire Institute of Karate was established in 2021 by Sensei Paul Monigatti 3rd Dan. Our style of Karate is Shotokan with WKF competition rules.

We provide tuition for all ages and abilities from 5+

***NLIK ANNUAL AWARDS***

A massive congratulations to the 2025 winners of the NLIK yearly awards. This year we have increased the level of recognition to include the following categories:

Most Improved Kumite
Most Improved Kata
Best Attendance
Best Newcomer
Student of the Year

These awards are deliberately based on improvement rather than outright achievement to ensure that all students, regardless of age or grade, have the opportunity for recognition.

The winners for 2025 are:

Most Improved Kumite - Matthew Evans

Matthew had an excellent year of improvement in his kumite which led to him winning his league in the GKA/NLIK Kumite league.

Most Improved Kata - James Stevenson

James has put an excellent amount of effort into learning and developing his kata this year. Always eager to learn and refine the detail and most importantly practicing at home!

Best Attendance - James Stevenson & Christopher Earl

Both James and Christopher attend two classes per week. This has paid dividends by way of accelerating their developement. Well done!

Best Newcomer Student - Finley Readie-May & Harper Readie-May

Finley and Harper have been a fantastic addition to the club this year. Both train with lots of enthusiasm and effort and both are highly deserving of this award.

Student of the Year - Matthew Evans

As mentioned previously it has been a successful year for Matthew in his competitive career. Winning his league in only his second year attending the kumite league is testament to the improvement he has made.
