Rubies played Charlestown Comets today in a tough match. With one of our team injured we had to shuffle things around which was tricky for the coach and players! We didn’t quite find our rhythm today and made a lot basic mistakes which cost us goals. But, as ever, we didn’t give up and the team listened to advice on how to tweak their game especially Patrycja who forced a very good centre to work much harder after a quick discussion during one of the quarter breaks. We lost a bit of confidence in the game today and this meant that slowed our play down which gave Charlestown the advantage. We go again next week hopefully more prepared.

Sparklers last match of the season welcomed a new player. The team did really well with some of their passing up court and moving into space. Defending was also really good with lots of interceptions and tips. The team had a few opportunities to shoot which is great. Well done team you all worked very hard. The team have also been working on their Bee-ingo cards and their St-ingo cards, where they colour in bees when coaches see them perform skills and display qualities of Bee netball.
Well done team.

Thank you to Active Lancashire in partnership with Sam The Period Coach , who have kindly provided our club with fabulous Care Kits, giving access to free period products and encouraging our girls to stay active and take part with confidence.

Our coaches will have these kits during training and matches.

The kits contain: period products, wipes, sanitiser, deodorant, heat pads, bobbles, anxiety stickers and affirmation cards

Emeralds Blue 15 - 28 Saddleworth Thunderstorm
We knew that this game was going to be a battle with this opposition being top of the competitive league alongside just having 7 players. To say it was a game of two halves is a massive understatement!
It would have been easy to give up at the half way mark when we were losing by a significant margin but the girls kept going and demonstrated real resilience and a want to play for each other. A few position shuffles and some not in their usual positions played had a huge impact at both ends. Our working towards goal and feeding in to the shooters improved in the second half and we won the third quarter 8-2. The last quarter was also close. In the second half our defensive unit really minimised goal scoring opportunities from shooters who were strong indeed. A game to be really proud of girls.
