Mike is a legend and true inspiration to us all. He has become such a big part of the Community and not just at our club. We had the pleasure of seeing Mike inspire so many runners last year whilst running the Tyree Ultra in some horrendous conditions. You could see people around him visibly stepping up their own runs as he spoke about his quest to support Bowel Cancer UK

Mike, 74, is taking on yet another marathon challenge this year to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK in memory of his daughter. He really values the support from his RunTogether group, Lions Running Community, throughout his training. 👏🏃

They have just installed one of their handmade “talking bench’s”.

This was made possible from the profit of the Berkeley Marathons UK that many of you entered and they have 4 more going up as well as other projects. 😍

🦁WEATHER UPDATE🦁

Dear

So we have had our intrepid course inspectors out in the local area and as a result we have made a decision to cancel tonight's runs.

As you know this is never an easy decision for us, but across the whole area, the melting snow has left many patches of ice and black ice which make the conditions really tricky to navigate, worse than if the snow had stayed.

The safety of the group is always our priority so whilst we love seeing you all and running together we want to do the right thing by you all to.

We shall be back next week bigger and brighter 🙂

As always if you know anyone who isn't on Facebook or isn't likely to see this in time, please let them know.

What a truly special week it has been already this week for the Lions. We attended the beautiful Kings Award for Voluntary Service Ceremony with the Lord Lieutenant.

What a remarkable evening and truly inspirational. There are some fantastic groups, clubs and organisations out there, doing amazing things and it's thanks to their volunteers loyalty and dedication that they achieve so much.

The Lions would be nothing without its amazing volunteers and members who are passionate about making the Lions a fabulous club to be part of.

Always a highlight of our year supporting Derian House Trees of Love and our Christmas Craft Run

Here's the third installment of a whopping start to 2024's celebrations! We are forever grateful to you all 🙌

💚 The lovely Nigel came by with a bunch of presents for our children and young people.

💚 Mercure Bolton Georgian House Hotel donated toys for us to enjoy over the Christmas period.

💚 Product Care Group have recently chosen to support us as their charity of the year. They held a Christmas market last week and raised a brilliant £447.

💚 Our friends at Thomas Hardie Commercials Ltd donated a cheque for a whopping £2,000, money of which they raised at their Christmas raffle.

💚 Lions Running Community quite literally ran by the hospice to decorate their Tree of Love and also donate their annual batch of craft goodies for our Messy PlayZone.

A lovely night tonight supporting Derian House with our annual craft run and the trees of love always a very special night on our calendar. Such a brilliant place doing amazing work in the local area.

The Lions have again supported Derian House by raising funds for their Tree of Love event. Next stop our Christmas Craft run donating craft items for the children and to decorate our tree.

Derian helps children and young people, whose lives are too short, to make happy memories in an environment of fun, respect and above all, Outstanding Care.

The care they provide is free for families, but the services cost £6 million to run every year with less than 30% of funding from the government, so donations are always welcome
