The sides of the body hold more than muscles.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Gallbladder meridian runs along the outer edge of the body - from the head, down the ribs, hips, and all the way through the outer legs. It’s associated with movement, decision making, courage, and the ability to choose a direction in life.

So when this channel feels tight or restricted, it can show up not just in the body, but in the mind too - feeling stuck, indecisive, or easily frustrated by the smallest things.

Maybe that’s why lateral stretches feel so good 🥰

As we open the side body - through poses like gate pose and side bends variations, we create space along the very pathway linked to flow and flexibility in TCM. Not just physically, but emotionally too.

Will a few side stretches magically fix your life choices? No. 👎

But they might make you feel a little less tense, a little less reactive, and a bit more able to handle whatever (or whoever) is testing your patience today. 😉✅✅

Move the side body.
Loosen the edges.
Let things feel a little less stuck.

And see what shifts - not just in your body, but in your ability to move through life.

Almost two weeks post-surgery and 4.5 months since the accident. Every step, every breath, every movement is my medicine, my therapy, and my reminder of what the body and spirit can overcome.

Deeply grateful for all the love, support, and encouragement you've sent my way. It has carried me through more than you know. 🙏✨

I have huge respect for this pose — and I know when to skip it.

So often I hear students say, “I’m going to be really gentle with my backbends today, my lower back feels a bit tight.”
But when my own back feels tight, it’s Supta Kurmasana that I tread carefully with.

It’s one of the deepest forward folds there is.

Deep forward folds place the spine into end-range flexion. When the back is already tight or fatigued, this can increase shear stress on the lumbar discs, sacroiliac joints, and spinal ligaments. A “tight” back is often protective, not short. Muscles tighten to guard irritated joints or vulnerable tissue — and forcing depth can override that protection and do more harm than good.

What I often see is the fear that “if I skip it, I’ll lose it.”
But you won’t.

Taking a depth that isn’t right for you right now only creates more tension — and the pose quietly moves further away. Listening, adapting, and choosing the gentler option is what keeps the practice alive long-term.

Practice isn’t about conquering shapes.
It’s about staying in relationship with your body. 🤍

The hardest part is showing up. Always.

Laghu Vajrasana might test your strength—but getting to your mat? That’s the real work.

Some days feel amazing, others feel like a grind… but the discipline of showing up is where everything shifts.

Tell me honestly - what almost stopped you from practicing today? 👇

Lately my feed is full of ski advice… and it’s made me think about yoga.
New yogis are often flooded with cues, tips, and corrections before they’ve even found their footing.

I share online guidance with good intentions, but I keep asking myself—
is this supportive, or just more noise?

Some things really do land best in person.

So I’d love to know: what kind of support would actually help you right now?

💬 Drop a comment or DM me — I’m listening.
