Southern Africa is a wonderful sporting destination, with fabulous wing-shooting. https://fourseasonsshooting.com/wing-shooting-in-south-africa/
Africa has opened up as a bird-shooting mecca, until you have actually experienced African wing-shooting it is near impossible to comprehend the potential that Africa has to offer. I would expect to shoot at least a dozen different species of game bird. h

Sand grouse shoots
Are usually shot in the evenings by water holes,
Guinea fowl Drives
Usually involves a lot of walked-up shooting with the Guinea fowl staying in front just out of shot unless the birds are driven,
Francolin partridge
In their various sorts, are best shot over pointer’s in the early morning from daybreak till 10am they can also be hunted in the late afternoon but I have found this to have varying degrees of success. Goose Shooting & Hunting. https://fourseasonsshooting.com/goose-hunting-in-south-africa
Africa is on a par with anything the world has to offer, shot from Daybreak to 10am over decoys in the arable lands in the late summer and autumn it is easy to shoot very large bags of geese. Duck Shooting
Always shot in the evening’s with mixed bags of duck and teal fighting into ponds and dams again in arable areas, large bags often achieved. Pigeon Shooting
World class pigeons and dove. Africa offers a real cost effective alternative to places like Cordoba, Argentina a mecca for pigeon shooters from all around the world: prices have taken a dramatic tumble due to the world’s financial crisis along with covid restrictions. https://fourseasonsshooting.com/dove-shooting-in-argentina
As for the Republic of South Africa, there are direct flights, with only a 2 hour time zone shift, abundances of birds, and cartridges that are very sensible priced (the one catch to South American destinations i.e. Cordoba for high volume shooting is the expensive cartridges). And, South Africa is extremely gun friendly in so far as visiting sportsmen are concerned (provided you do not take a semi-auto along – This will cause more bureaucratic hassle than it is worth). Budget on cartridges being about 30% more than the price you would pay at home. Actual shooting costs, will vary considerably, good sport is on offer from £195 per day, and double that will be pretty upmarket, the only difference will be the accommodation (make sure, however, that you work out a cartridges budget before you arrive in South Africa and stick to it – don't go with any operator who is not recommended and their check references)
