Sad news...
HS2 are behind with building the tunnel so the delay means we wont be reopening until 2026!
When we do get the green light to reopen, we will start from scratch and spend many months rebuilding the Site!
I'll keep you updated nearer the time as I am sure you miss it as much as we do! 🥹🥹

Hi Guys!
This weekend marks the LAST Weekend we can run our "Open Skirmish" Games here at Coms 3 for 2 Years or more!

Would you believe, even though it's been Fully Booked and I have been turning players away, 12 people DIDN'T show up today! (Saturday)

We expect "NO SHOWS" on regular days (seems to be around 10% bookings don't turn up & can't be bothered to Cancel)

HOWEVER, this is a VERY Special weekend for us and I am amazed that players have booked in (taking up limited space) not cancelled and not shown up - therefore denying OTHERS a chance to play! 😢
It's not about MONEY (yes, bills need to be paid) BUT there are people that genuinely wanted to share this weekend with us and I turned them away...

So, PLEASE, if you have booked in for Sunday the 9th and can no longer come - CANCEL your space so the next in line can come and enjoy the LAST Day at Coms Site 3.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday & PLAYING alongside you for a Game or two!

*** IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ***

Coms Site 3 – Chipping Warden (OX17 1LZ)

Many of you are aware that HS2 (High Speed Rail 2) are building a rail line from London to Birmingham.
The announcement and realisation that we would be affected by this rail project goes back to 2014 and since then I have been working VERY hard to minimise the impact it will have to one of the best Airsoft Sites in the UK!
I went to Parliament in 2015 and explained that although I do not oppose HS2 in principle, there must be a way that they can plan their works so we can still operate as usual. HS2 are building a “cut and cover” tunnel right outside our Site and need to dig up the access road leading to Coms Site 3. They have also taken land from us, forcing us to relocate the original Safe Zone.
Initially, HS2 were very supportive and we started to make plans for a New Safe Zone and access road to the Site.
Years have flown by and things have changed considerably… I have spent 100’s of hours with emails, maps, finances, plans, online meetings, phone calls and Site meetings, however, plans started to make a turn for the worse.
We had to move from our original Safe Zone in 2021. I quickly re-mapped the Site and moved our old Safe Zone to the other Side of the Land so we can keep running. This has given us another Year and a half of Games!
There is only so much I can do but HS2 are ultimately in charge of what will happen. They are after all, backed by Government.

Sadly, I have FAILED... :(

Yesterday, HS2 have officially written to me to confirm that they will be closing the access track to our Site from week commencing the 11th of April for approximately 2 Years.
They will NOT be providing an alternative access road and have tried to seek permission to gain access through private land without success.

What does this mean?
R.I.F.T. Airsoft Coms Site 3 will TEMPORARILY CLOSE for approx. 2 years.

R.I.F.T. Airsoft’s tenancy is UNAFFECTED (yes, I still have to pay my Rent!) and we still have a very long contract on the Land, so we will be back as soon as HS2 reinstate the track road to the Site (some time in 2025?)
We will secure permission to walk across the adjoining land and carry out MONTHLY Maintenance on the Site which will include upgrading and adding new defences and features. When we reopen, the Site will be even better than it is right now!
I know some of you live local to the Site and it will come as a blow for you to read this announcement.
We are still very lucky to have 3 other Sites for you to enjoy and we are working VERY hard to find new Sites for you to play, so please don’t think your Membership or attendance isn’t appreciated.
The Nearest R.I.F.T. Airsoft Site to Coms Site 3 is REDCON-2 (Abingdon OX13 6BX) and we also have The BOMB DUMP in Hampshire (SO20 8DY) and The RIDGE near LUTON (MK45 4LG)

Our last Games will be Easter Weekend (Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th of April 2023)
I would like to extend my gratitude to the THOUSANDS of people who have played at this Site since we opened in July 2012. We have met some amazing people. Many friends, relationships and memories!
Other than Skirmish, we have run Zombie Games and Rift Sim (Battle Sim) Events. ASG EVO & Blaster Tour, Competitions, Fancy Dress, Stag, Corporate Events, Halloween and much more!
The Site is part of our DNA and it put Rift Airsoft on the Map in terms of a great value for money Airsoft Site to play!

To say I am upset and sad to write this message to you all is an understatement. I was going to record a Video but I doubt I would be able to compose myself for too long and say the words “we have to close”, so, here is a wall of text instead!

So, booking will open for Easter Weekend on Monday the 27th of March. I will slightly increase the number of players for this weekend so we can really go out with a BANG!
I will also allow the Marshals to play along Side you on Sunday the 9th (yes, me included!) as a little treat.

It’s not the end… it’s a pause. We will post updates as we add things to the land but in the meantime, I would like to thank you ALL for your support, loyalty and friendship over the 10 AMAZING Years we have had at Coms Site 3.

WOW!!!! 😁
So.... not long now until Booking opens for our 10 Year Anniversary Game Day at our beloved COMS SITE 3.
Booking will open on Monday 27th of June – it will FULLY BOOK Fast! I will add extra spaces as it is a celebration day! We have Cake, Prizes and FUN Games!

So, seeing that some of you might be New to Rift, here is a little bit of HISTORY behind the Site…
We originally signed the Contract with the land owner back in January 2012.
The Site had HUGE potential but due to years of use and low maintenance, it needed work…. LOTS of work!
So, without going through the list of names of dedicated and happy helpers, SIX MONTHS of hard work, lots of money, blood sweat and tears – we had our FIRST Official Game in July 2012!
The photo below is from that day! Most of the people have moved on but we still see some of them from time to time… We are planning a reunion! (contact me if you are one of the old Team and not heard from Hazel as yet!)
Since the opening day we have had LOTS of amazing experiences at the Site. Even though Rift generally runs Skirmish Events, we have also run some very popular and successful “Special Events” such as:

WWII Sim Events (strict detail/authenticity on WWII Weapons & Equipment)
RiftSim Events (Battle-Sim, low numbers, limited ammo, squads, no armbands, strict conduct)
WWII Zombie Events (simply the BEST and scariest FUN ever! N**i Zombie with MG42!)
Zombie Event (Campers gone missing in the woods – we go to investigate!)
ASG BLASTER TOUR! Amazing Event – supporting ASG / BLASTER Ammo, etc…
ASG EVO Event – yes indeed! The EVO time at Coms Site 3!

I have personally met 100’s of simply AWESOME people over the Years and the Loyalty & Support from the Rift Playerbase is simply overwhelming… ALL of the people behind the scenes that help START Rift at Coms Site 3 are NOT forgotten and will always remain special to me personally.
Would you believe that many friendships and TEAMS have been forged at Coms Site 3, along with a few successful romances too! (I’ll say no more! :p)
We have had the privilege of Mini Shops on Site, including Pro Airsoft Supplies, M4 Mass & Combat-UK. We have evolved in many aspects over the years and will always continue to add new features and try to tick every box for you all!
We are SO lucky to have such an amazing Site, complete with original WWII Buildings, Bunkers and Brick Trenches. Yes, we have added LOTS to it but fundamentally it would still be great to play anyway!

SADLY… High Speed Rail has taken 25% of the land (which was supposed to be temporary) but now they have purchased that land and will keep it forever! I am still fighting the fight to keep what we have but it is a challenge to communicate and get any details from them… I am planning “Phase 2” of the build at Coms 3, in which we put a fake building on top of the Cellar, so you get to fight through it, then head downstairs to complete the objective! Lots more additions to follow too! We still have LOTS of land to use and fight across & with the EXTENDED Car Park we can now accommodate 100 Players!

So… please let me take this time to THANK YOU ALL for TEN Amazing Years at Coms Site 3! 🥰

Wishing you ALL a VERY MERRY RIFTMAS! :p

The last Game of 2021 was a fantastic day indeed!
170 amazing Players joined us for some Festive FUN at REDCON-2 Abingdon.
Buddy The Elf v's The Grinch fought hard all day with their loyal Soldiers! It was a close call but don't worry, Christmas was saved!

We have Plans for a New Site close to Hertfordshire in 2022, upgrades to existing Sites and a new bach of Hire Weapons & options. As most of you are aware we are also working with HS2 to try to keep RIFT Airsoft Com's Site 3 up and running as they are building a huge tunnel right next to the Site!
It's been very stressful... still ongoing :( I will post updates when I know where we stand.

COVID did still have a huge negative impact... but with the support of our friends & 98% Fully Booked Events, we made it through - thank YOU!
