Just a reminder to all Ongar Pétanque players , and visitors, we will be on piste at the rear of Pleasance car park on Sunday from 10-00 until 2-00/2-30, to play our favourite game of boules, don’t be put of by a sprinkling of rain, we will be there , We have spare boules for you to use, so come on down we’ll look forward to meeting you . Hi to all pétanquers who played on Sunday, all players who turned up played some great games, Triples and Doubles were order of the day, and I must say that the new players played some excellent boules, I partnered Hazel in two excellent games , and yes we won them both ( Thankyou Hazel). So weather permitting we will be back on the piste’s on Wednesday from 12-30 until 2-30. So looking forward to seeing you, as always don’t forget to share, in the mean time take care out there,

Ongar Pétanque Club played their best yesterday at the Ongar piste in beating Epping in this annual event , which brought the annual trophy back to Ongar, commiserations to the Epping players who played superbly , it was a pleasure as always to play against a very good team . We look forward to competing against the Horizons again in the near future. But it was congratulations to the Ongar teams who played to win and that’s what they done ,
A big thanks to the usual players who always arrive early to help set the pistes and gazebo’s up ready for play and staying behind to dismantle and pack away all the equipment,

Weather permitting the piste’s will be open for friendly games and practice , on Wednesday afternoon , 12-30 until 2-30.

Thankyou pétanque players for a most enjoyable Session of Boules on Sunday , also well done to all the new players that took part, Hazel, Colin, Tony,Ray,Martin,young Jamie, and not forgetting Anne, you have all improved so much over the last couple of weeks, Carolyn and myself are very impressed with your performances,keep up with the way you are playing. We will be at the piste on Wednesday for a practice session ready for the Ongar V Epping match which is being held this coming Sunday, so come on down we’d love to see you , 10-00 until 3-00 you know where we are, yes you got it , at the rear of the Pleasance Car Park, just of Ongar High Street . Thanks to the pétanque players who turned up this afternoon for practice, and friendly games , it was an enjoyable couple of hours, I teamed up with Gary who is new to the club ,he is a very good player , and certainly is going to be a good team player for the coming new year, we had a close game with Carolyn and Barry, who pushed us to the end

If you wish to improve your game or take part in this enjoyable sport, then you will have to pay us a visit, we are at the rear of the Pleasance Car Park, Wednesdays from 12-30 until 3-00, Sundays 10-30 until 2-30. See you there no experience required,

Ongar Pétanque Players, here we go with as promised the final results of the Ongar Pétanque Final.
With rain threatening to put the block on the finals kept us hoping that the sun would make an appearance , and it did just that, it turned out to be a great day, The final results were as follows, The Derek Spring singles champion for 2024 went to a player who over the last year has become a great player and deserved to win the Shield, it was presented to the winner by Shiela Spring, and that player was Danny, our congratulations go to you, well done, The runner up was Mark who tried as hard as he could to beat Danny but Danny wasn’t going to let Mark take the lead and eventually the win away from him,
The Innocent Pairs Trophy in the red division was won by husband and wife team Ray and Sheila, who beat the runners up team of John and Carolyn another popular Husband and wife team In another exciting match, unfortunately John and Carolyn just couldn’t make it to take the pair’s title but rest assured they’ll be back.
The Challenge Triple Champions in the green division was another popular win by the team of John M, Steve and Pauline, they took the title by beating the team of Wendy, Helen and Brian who took the runners up spot ,both teams played some excellent boules,
The Triple Champions red division was won by the team of Ken, Joel and Mark who beat the team of Barry , John A and Ray, both teams played some great boules but Ken’s team eventually took the well deserved win,
The pairs Challenge champions in the green division was a great win for the team of John A and his team mate Berni a great win as this team hardly ever play together, but they took this win over Brian and Malcolm,
So to all players who took part in this Ongar Club Championship, a great big well done to you all,
2024 Ongar Championship was a great competition to be
involved with so we look forward to 2025 when in early spring we will start all over again with existing players and new players taking part to become 2025 Ongar Champions,

Hi to all Ongar Pétanque Club members, new players and visitors, just to remind you all that this coming Sunday is the chance to take part in a club friendly match wether it’s Singles, Doubles, or Triples, or solely for the chance to practice and improve your own style and skills, If you fancy the chance to take part then come on down to the Clubs Piste situated at the rear of the library in the Pleasance Car Park just of the Ongar High Street you’ll be made welcome, just ask for Carolyn or John,

What a weekend of boules, two days of continuous playing in brilliant sunshine , the Eastern Region played their socks of and ended up coming fourth overall ,it was a very hard competition but a very enjoyable one, the Ongar Pétanque team
won two games on Saturday and won two games on Sunday against some of the countries top teams and on Sunday it was a repeat performance with two wins again against top teams from Kent and Wales, we could have done better but that’s the way this game goes, So a big congratulations to a great performance go to the Ongar team Mark, Sheila, Captain Joel, and John, A big thankyou must go to Carolyn who was the Eastern Region Manager, who not only looked after the regions teams but with the help of our Pauline looked after our needs by supplying plenty of food and drinks to all the regions players , and another big thankyou goes to John I for transporting us and all our gear to and from Pakefield,
This coming weekend we are back at Ongar to take part in the Ongar Championship Rounds, come on down we’d like to see you, and perhaps you’d like to have a go at boules, and don’t forget to come along to our Wednesday afternoon sessions,
