Kieran Barker Racing

Kieran Barker Racing Racing updates and motorcycle related posts here, from a club racer with ambitions to go road racing

From Skipton in Yorkshire, Kieran made the decision to start racing in late 2022, starting as Novice in the 2023 season. Kieran's aspiration is to race on the Isle of Man, initially at the Manx Grand Prix but with the aim of becoming a TT Racer. During 2023 he improved throughout the year, racing a Honda CB500 with numerous clubs and achieved 3rd place in the NGRRC Rookie Championship Open 500 cl

ass. He had a great season, building speed and got his Clubman licence before the end of season.
2024 saw Kieran continue with the CB500, this time exclusively with the NGRRC club, where he also raced in the Bandit Cup. He achieved numerous podium finishes and scored 2 race wins on the Bandit at Anglesey, also getting fastest bandit lap of the weekend. He got 3rd in the Open 500 championship and continues to build speed, improving at every circuit on the previous year and improving throughout each weekend. By the end of 2024, Kieran has his National B licence, which allows him to start road racing.
2025 has involved CB500 and Bandit again, although some rounds he was unable to ride both bikes, owing to class clashes. His lap times continue to fall and at present he is 5th in the Bandit / Lightweight naked championship despite this year being a challenge, with bike issues and missing some races. We know it's going to take time, careful preparation and hard work if we are going to get to the Isle of Man eventually, but we have every intention of getting there. Over the coming Winter, we hope to acquire and build a Pre-injection 600cc sports bike, which Kieran aims to move up to for the 2026 season. He'll be rising his CB500 at the road racing circuits and have a sensible introduction to the roads. Kieran will be posting regularly on here and we'll be providing various updates. Next year, Kieran is hoping to ride at Oliver's Mount and Aberdare in order to complete his first ever road races. Join us on the journey, he's determined to get to the Isle of Man and we invite you to come along for the ride!

Meanwhile, the Ultra Lightweight Classic TT celebrates 400cc and 125cc legends including Lougher, Robert Dunlop and Joey Dunlop, and the battles that defined the ‘90s.

A crash isn’t what we wanted in the last race of the season, but it’s nice to have a memento 😅. First crash in two whole seasons of riding the bandit, so I might as well make the most of it…

Hi all, safely home after an eventful weekend.
Happy to say that I've finished 4th in the Naked lightweight street bike Championship, Behind Harley Prebble, Adrian O Connor and Mark Wardle. Well done to those and everyone else who raced this season.
Highlights for me this weekend were two really good races on the bandit with 4th place in both. One where I lost third place through a mistake and one where I had a great ride after a poor start, making up a good number of places and having a great time 🙂 Best lap now improved from 1:21.2 to 1:20.5 so another 0.7 seconds and pleased with that as it was pretty cold all weekend.

With the Minitwin, we had a number of teething issues with including the fuel leak and also front brakes, then fuel leak again... now sorted and had a decent race 3 starting in last place and making up 8 places, finishing mid-field.

Bandit race 3 was very short! I had an "OK" start and then took 4 places before the first tight corner, with another place being picked up just before the esses....
I was really enjoying the race already and felt really confident on the bike, so was chasing Grant Davies and Richard Parker-Davis, with the aim of getting on the podium. Grant's bike went down immediately in front of me (videos to follow from distance and onboard). I had nowhere to go and ran straight over Grant's leg, throwing my bike off balance and down I went. Very relieved to say that Grant has amazing Daytona boots and they definitely saved his lower leg from serious injury. I bounced pretty well and have scuffed the leathers a little, bashed couple of fingers and have a sore arm, but was very lucky!

All in all, a great weekend (honest)

Bandit race 3. Dad posting here. Kieran had a crash with Grant Davies. Not sure yet of the circumstances but the commentator said It was a "big one".
This is where as a dad i now sit in torture waiting to see if he is ok. He started really well and was right in the mix for a podium.
Will update on Kieran, the bike and lastly what happened when we know how things turn out.

Bandit race 2.
It's cool and dewy so far today with the mist still lingering.
I had a great start on the warm-up lap but on the actual race start i messed up! Wheely, off the thottle and go again... back to 7th place bandit and 8 laps to try and improve.
Had a brilliant race with the bandit guys and worked up tp 4th place by the end. I was chasing 3rd and gained by about a second a lap the last couple of laps.
Really hoping for a better start in race three but i have a chance of finishing 4th in the championship, which woukd be a good season.
Next race on the minitwin hoping the brakes are sorted haha.

Minitwin race 1.
With qualifying being a non-starter, i started in last place.
I managed to make 10 places but on lap 4 my brakes started to fade and i also got liquid spray on my visor.
I ran the remainder of the race and lost one place but came in 13th of 20 minitwins and 18th overall of 27.
We found the reason i had to slow down, was the front brake master cyclinder seal had gone, spraying brake fluid onto the screen and my visor. Its a good jib i backed off a bit as full rake failure wouldnt have been ideal. My brake lever was really soft by the end of the racee but itvwas good to get out.
Best lap 1:24.3. Hoping to improve tomorrow and Chris and Dad have completely bled the brakes and sorted the brake fluid. I now have a properly solid fron brake lever!
All sat round the fire now, having a break.

Bandit race 1.
Qualifying 5th with a 1:21.4 I was really happy to be honest and very close to Mark Wardle.
The race had to be restarted after Scott had an off which has unfortunately damaged his bike badly. Glad you are ok Scott.
Race restarted and i got a great start and managed to run for a couple or three laps in 3rd place but then had a bit of a moment running over the area where the crash had happened and i was passed by Mark Wardle. The rest of the race i chased hard but didnt quite manage to get it back.
I was however very happy to get a 1:20.5 best lap, improving my personal best by 0.6 seconds and in less optimal conditions.

I finished about 2 bike lengths behind Mark and am really looking forward to tomorrow.

Minitwin qualifying.... well it didnt happen sadly. Very luckily i picked up on a smell of fuel and stopped before going out. To the Marshalls' horror my bellypan was swimming in petrol.
Dad has found a quick release fuel pipe has failed so we are trying our best to get a pipe made and secured. We told you Chris and Helen were great didnt we?!

Chef Graham post coming soon.... but firstly shout out and introduction time.
Chris Eagle Edwards, Helen Edwards and family have come to a number of events this year despite Chris taking this year off racing. Chris always comes and helps with anything we need and its massively appreciated. Part of or original race family and we are looking forward to chasing him next year if our pre injection plans come to fruition.

Bandit qualfying done. 5th in class in some very strong company. Literally a couple of tenths off 4th. 1:21.4 which is 0.2 off my last years best however the weather isnt as good and grip yet to improve a touch.
Happy with this as yesterday was a bit of a struggle around 1:26.

Minitwin qualifying later and with this bike im firstly trying to get a feel for it and secondly checking it runs well after our issues at Donington.
I would be really happy if i could get somewhere around mid pack on the minitwin but as mentioned, i need to learn how to ride it!
